  • Making books about Afghans? Illegal/Exploitation?

    Gayle Tzemach Lemmon

This new book by Gayle Tzemach Lemmon talks about Afghan women who make dresses, some even being sold to the Taliban members' wives.

This woman, like Greg Mortenson is a crook. Her book is already a New York Times Best seller. We should make sure we find the Afghans she got close to, and ensure she is sued.

These authors are criminals and thieves, justifying the killings and crimes against our people.

    ghundal -
this is really good research of yours.

About the first author - ugh, what a crook she LOOKS like !
    Those eyes, horrible !

Then we read her brief resume.
Fellow at the CFR - most of us here hopefully by
this time know what THAT means...
she's a pet "expert" of the very forces which
determined to invade Afghanistan way back when
and ruthlessly have sunk all their bets into prolonging the
    involvement as long as possible.
Suffering of Afghans means as much to them as
to a robot...which these global elite types all ARE !

It's weird I was just looking up Sarah Chayes today
when I found her book, which I hadn't at all liked, hidden
in the basement. I put it with the "give to usedbook store or library" pile.

She actually MAY be a more sincere do-gooder type.
But first, she is 100 % behind the US occupation, and thinks that NATO has
done even yet a better job in Afghanistan than the US by itself...
Plus if you look her up in Google images, as I did just to gauge the
spiritual quotient, her eyes are creepy in a different way.
She looks mannish, and almost scary too!

I tell ya' the Americans that go over to Afghanistan and the region are
almost always weirdos in some form.
I should start a study on this topic, but many are complete losers like Greg Mortenson and Debbie Rodriguez, and others are cogs in the US political elite's agenda machine.

Apparently this - strangely named - woman is one of the CFR/Bilderberger group's representatives to deal with women's topics.

This is probably a well-thought out strategy on the part of her overseers.
The idea is to make the material produced by such members as this woman
show that the CFR is "up with the times" and not an "old boys club" but
trendy - look how this woman appears [ugh!] - and pro-active in its "pro-women" stance.

      It's a very clever "con".

Rachel Newcomb didn't seem to care much about Greg Mortensons' pathological lying.
The fact is though that many thousands of Americans invested in his schemes.
Those corporations and individuals surely will be hopping angry that their philanthropically-designated dollars were,
in effect, scammed out of them.

"Afghanistan" literature has become a new industry; do you think a piece of literary tripe like The Kite Runner would have become a best seller without the exploitive geopolitical backdrop to catalyze it? The book is built on poorly constructed theatrics and unconvincing emotional pull and thus probably would have made it a supermarket check out counter read at best. It's the goal to capitalize on appealing to the mainstream geopolitical indoctrination. The Kite Runner was there to fit the bill, to confirm the cultivated notions of the masses. Not a coincidence.

Well said. Kite Runner was a means to demonize the Pashtuns, and justify war against Afghanistan. His book was more divisive for Afghans.

He deserves to be spat on.

i used to have a teacher who would get grumpy every time these kharijies would come to visit our school back home. nothing out of ordinary ever happened so when someone would come to visit the school everyone would be so excited.
you know how people take their children to the zoo to have them be fascinated with all those weird things that caged animals do?? we are their zoo. which is why i hate hate hate pictures of afghan kids dressed in ripped off dirty cloths staring back with hopeless eyes at the camera in fancy shmancy websites or magazines.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

Agreed. They sell these pictures for a lot of money too. This harsh treatment they have of us, thinking pictures of crying and starving children are cute is hitting them back in the face.

I don't want their curiosity or false concern. They are all their to make a career for themselves.

I thought Mortenson was honest. How wrong I was?

You guys, it's so true !!

As Kakargirl said, these people are ALL CROOKS !!!
                        Seriously crooks.
If not criminals before the laws of their countries, certainly
                        in front of Allah [swt].
Even ONE lie is not justified in any of these pitiful books.
Let alone gross distortions which in turn are aimed at the
naive and ignorant - in fact downright DISINTERESTED -
                        american average reader.

So by twisting the stories to suit both political and social agendas of
rather sinister forces, masses of readers are PROGRAMMED.
So whoever tells even one lie let alone a LIE-FACTORY such as all these
"popular" books HAVE created, is ultimately going to be held
responsible at the Judgment for all the evil they perpetrated in the name
of Ego, Fame, Money, Drama Creation at the expense of innocent parties, etc.

I say SOCIAL agendas too, because with the current Feminist Craze -- -
manufactured itself, too! that's another story ---
any whisper in a project about *** "Afghan women" ***
is enough to commission a book or research study at the drop of a hat.
Such are guaranteed to sell like hotcakes.

Especially if the novel or supposedly
non-fiction account trots out all the most horrible
individual women's tales of suffering to be found over a 1,001 mile radius
and packs them all into a sensationalistic account -
let's say rather: a book of lies - such as Debbie Rodriguez's
                        first venture.

Maybe she learned a little for she has a new book out
called - ironically after the Three Cups of Tea fiasco
                        A Cup of Tea !! -
or something close to that -
which is now classified as a novel.
Probably there's a lot of fluffy nonsense in that book too.

All of it demeans Afghans, that's the bottom line.

In fairness I want to say that though I wasn't from this generation,
I knew Americans who served in the peace corps in Afghanistan
                        in the 1960s.
                        They were often completely different.
They cared and they had a conscience.
                        At least SOME did.
For I recall that these were at the forefront of local
efforts to help Afghans in the Soviet time.

They neither sought or received publicity like these idiots today do -
trumpeted by every stupid TV interviewer/bestseller list etc -
but they quietly worked to help Afghans in small ways.

Why? because they remembered how great the Afghans had been to them.
Their lives were changed by living in Afghanistan
and they wanted to "give back".

                        They never sought celebrity spotlights.

Whereas today's version, all these American authors
                        - and even the Norweigian woman too -
are so superficial and have no heart or soul.

                        Or conscience...

This contrast between Peace Corps veterans and
the flashy but empty Americans of today who involved
                        themselves with these attention-getting projects
                        is remarkable.

It shows perhaps how the entire fabric of society here in the
                        West has disintegrated.
