  • 50,000 Pakhtuns may flee TTP attack

KOHAT: After continuous attacks and threats from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), residents of Jammu village in Jawaki area of Frontier Region Kohat have started shifting to safer places, local source said.

The sources said that they were not safe in the wake of consistent attacks by the militants on the local population. They said that the militants had been issuing warnings to the area residents over support to the security forces.

The sources said that 50,000 population of the area was mulling over shifting to other places and some had already started leaving the area. In the last week, three persons were injured when militants fired rockets on the funeral prayer of a woman in Jammu village. A villager told The News that most of the residents had started fleeing the area due to potential threats from the militants.

The migrating people said that the administration did not support them in the fight against the militants. They asked the government to deploy the Frontier Constabulary (FC) in the area to help them fight the militants. The security forces have also launched an operation in Jawaki and Darra Adamkhel.

I sincerely look forward to the day that the ISI-run TTP end their terror against our Muslim brothers and sisters in Pashtunkhwa.

    Salamoona,

Id like to hear your thoughts on how your commentary makes sense. If the TTP is ISI run, how do you reconcile two facts:

    1) They attack army installations and high profile political targets (Sherpao) alongside these attacks attributed to them.

    2) How do you separate out the fact that Hakimullah Mehsud worked with that Jordanian physician to orchestrate the Khost CIA base bombing that was catastrophic to the CIA's abilities to see into FATA?

Wouldn't a more reasonable narrative be as follows: Pakistan and the Saudi intelligence puts its money on the various horses that suit its interests in Afghanistan (Sayyaf, Taliban, etc) when the Civil War was going on. Subsequently, when a new foreign Christian force invades Afghanistan, the doctrine of defensive warfare (In Islamic doctrine no Caliphate need issue the order to declare this brand of war- it activates the minute a Muslim country is invaded) kicks in. The various arms of the Taliban movement utilize KP as a backward operating base, including native arms as we have seen Mehsud pay homage to Mullar Omar as Nek Muhammad did before him. With the information age being what it is, the double game could not persist. Baitullah and now Hakimullah undestood that they are in a situation were the Pakistani Army and the government is allowing NATO tankers and arms to cross Pakistani territory into Afghanistan... so they wonder... hmmm, so on the one hand we are being sent into Afghanistan to fight the Karzai government and the NATO forces... yet on the other hand, the Pakistani government is giving NATO the arms to kill us? Wouldnt the TTP attacks on the UN tankers and what not also support this narrative? It would not take too much intelligence for any FATA insurgent to understand that the Pakistani Army is making a monetary killing off this war alongside aquiring many great military toys. Its sort of like this situation where you (Pakistan) have a nearby house on fire (Afghanistan) and then you tell someone... go put out the fire (the insurgency you trained) and then as they are doing so, you go around the backside of the house and throw more gasoline on the fire, endangering the firefighter. Now, the firefighter catches onto the double game and first tells you (Pakistan) to stop throwing gasoline onto the home... Pakistan ignores and is now bearing the brunt of an insurgency turning its guns on it.

I personally think this makes much more sense than the alternative narratives that the Pakistani establishment promotes where there are sets of good insurgents (the Afghan Taliban) and bad insurgents (TTP).
