Why the two hate each other? Why do durranis speak farsi and ghilzais stick to pashto?

  • #2
dude total horse kaka and false dichotomy

there have been historic rivalries between CERTAIN clans of Abdali Origins and Ghilzai origins; but this by NO MEANS implicates there's some eternal universalized fued going on. That's just garbage outsiders try to stir up to suit their own lust for flaming hatred.

and your second postulate is nonsense too. Qandahar is mainly inhabited by Durrani/Abdali affiliated tribes and the number of people who can fluently speak Farsi is very slim. Likewise in many Northern Provinces where Ghilzai clans were forced to relocate to in earlier generations, there are many Ghilzais who can no longer fluent in Pashto.

but why is it during the rule of durranis the ghilzais were distrusted and kept backward.
Even today many ghilzais are nomads.

Backwards according to whom? That's a manufactured opinion, the reason nomads remain nomads is because they choose to; they have a deep connection with nature and feel anything that removes them from nature is destructive. No one keeps them backwards; because for them being a Nomad is a good thing. Also, there are many Abdali clans who are also Nomads, the Noorzai are often nomadic, some tribes of Achakzai are Nomadic.

Ghilzai nomads (pawandas/kochis) come to our areas in winter riding on camels. Their women dont wear burqa and are dressed in pawandano dress. Their guys are tough and locals dont mess with them. They are armed and would fight you if you try to rob them.
I dont know much about durranis of afghanistan but there are many durrani families in pakistan especially punjab. Attock and multan has large population of durranis.

Ghilzais were toughest of all pashtuns, they pushed many other tribes towards india. Their rivalry with durranis would be natural, as durranis rose during ahmad shah abdali period and must have challenged power of ghilzais.

Actually lodhi and ghiljay were brothers and were sons of bibi mato, both are called mati tribes.
That is lodhis are not branch of ghilzai tribe. Like ghilzais, lodhi confederation consist of large number of tribes like lohanis(Marwats, miankhels, daulat khels), dotanis, noranis, niazis, suris, sherwanis, kundis etc. Only dotanis are left in afghanistan, rest were expelled by much powerful ghilzais because main lodhi tribe had already migrated to india.
There are remnants of lodhis and niazis in afghanistan but they are not that much in number, infact i once met a marwat from afghanistan and he told me that there still marwats in our original homeland in katawaz.

no,lodhi was only the brother of ghelzai/gharzai.
Ludin is not part of lodhi.Ludin is a separate tribe originated from ,,gharghasht,,/son of qais baba.It is not right to call every tribe ghelzai or durani.
