A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

And she was threatened for death by warlords, since she criticized them. She pretty much gave up the fight against warlords back home(for her own safety)and she isn't able to express herself, with her free-will in Afghanistan. In the US, things change. You are able to express yourself more comfortably as compared to Afghanistan, which is why she isn't wearing a scarf and which is why she is criticizing the warlords in the USA. She knows that the warlords sphere of influence ends the minute you land in JFK airport[etc]. In Afghanistan, sadly, not wearing a scarf equates to pretty bad things. At the end of the day, it's a womans choice whether she wants to wear a scarf or not. As we know, Afghanistan doesn't provide that right.Originally posted by Naveera View Postshe is already fighting for the rights she is denied.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

nor should it
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Naveera,Originally posted by Naveera View Posti don't wear one. people with actual intentions for change start with themselves and small things first.
Afghanistan is different. For their own safety, they try to follow social norms. It's sort of hard to bring a revolution in a nation like Afghanistan. As you can see, even female Journalists where scarfs when they land in Afghanistan.
I'm sure you know my personal stance on this issue. I'm just playing a devils advocate role, I hope you don't mind.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

Interesting that she called the Karzai regime
either "the corrupt mafia" government
or "the puppet mafia" government - I didn't hear well enough.
The word mafia was in there...
well, wonder how many mainstream media outlets will
give her any air time ?
Let alone quote her on things like this...

People in afghanistan have more important priorities to worry about like putting food in their childrens mouth. Majority of Women in Afghanistan are not brainwashed with secular thoughts about how modesty = prison and promiscuity = freedom..Originally posted by Naveera View Posti don't wear one. people with actual intentions for change start with themselves and small things first.
