Karzai seeks end to war on Afghan soil
    by Pajhwok Report on 12 March, 2011 - 12:17
ASADABAD (PAN): President Hamid Karzai on Saturday asked NATO-led troops to halt their operations in Afghanistan and instead target militant hideouts across the border.
Accompanied by a number of advisers and the deputy NATO commander, Karzai arrived in Asadabad, the provincial capital, to condole with families of airstrike victims in Ghaziabad district.
He met with relatives of the individuals killed and wounded during the Feb. 18 coalition airstrike. More than 70 people, including women and children were killed during the raids in Ghaziabad and Nanglam Valley last month.
Before addressing a huge gathering of tribal elders at the Syed Jamaluddin Afghani Hall, Karzai offered prayers for the dead, Kunar Governor Wahidullah Fazli told Pajhwok Afghan News.
In his speech, the president said they were thankful to foreign countries for assistance, but they were extremely shocked over the killing of civilians at the hands of international troops in Afghanistan.
The job of international troops is to save Afghans and help them strengthen peace, stability and sovereignty, Karzai said. "It is the right of this nation to protest civilian deaths," he added.
"Afghan suffered a lot in the nearly decade-long war. No other nation in the world has suffered as much as Afghans. The war has been imposed on us and we want an end to this. There should be no bombings and no unnecessary arrests," the president stressed.

He said when the Kunar incident happened, NATO leaders apologised to him, but he remained silent and did not answer their apologies. "We know how to live. We have a history … and respect guests. My silence does not mean we will always respect the guests," he warned.
On behalf of the Afghan people, the president said he wanted an end to US and ISAF forces operations on Afghan soil. "If the war is against terrorists, then militant hideouts across the border be destroyed. There are no terrorists in our villages."

He insisted the people of Afghanistan wanted peace and they were ready for friendship and cooperation with the international community only if the war was stopped.

Karzai gave the NATO deputy commander photos of the children killed in the February 28 bombardment and told him to show it to his government and people.

I find this interesting. Now that his family is feeling the burn, he wants to end the war? What about all the ordinary Afghans/Pashtuns across the line who were feeling the burn of this war for the past decade? Now that this war has affected his close family, he wants to call it a day? I guess it's better than nothing.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Don't believe it for a second. Mr. Karzai is the same selfish ******* that attempted to replicate the crowning of Ahmad Shah Sadozai in our own ancestoral village. He completely shat on the whole history of the event.

People like this, the Batistas, the two Abdullahs, the Mubaraks, the Musharrafs, the Saddam Husseins, and Mr Karzai are willing to collude and collaborate to seek personal greatness and prestige ... but they forget that personal greatness requires being capable and full of merit, traits that none of these men embody.

Mr. Karzai is a splitting mirror image, historically, and otherwise of Shah Shuja Sadozai... and falls far from measuring to a single hair on Ahmad Shah Abdali's head.

The gaurdian has it right when it provides the following assessment:

"Karzai has tapped into public rage at the accidents of foreign troops, in part to confound the widespread view that he is a puppet of the US."

karzai says he doesnt want nato in the country to afghans, and tells nato he needs them for his survival.

                POLITICIAN.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I was just thinking that. Reality finally hit him when a relative of his died? while men, women, and children have been killed daily over and over again.

                    * I dont believe this at all. Its just putting my hopes up. Now we will have to see if he is being serious about this. Doubt it though.

Karzai with all his weaknesses both as a leader and person who can exert control can still make life really difficult for NATO

The iron is hot and with every floundering mistake from the NATO it keeps getting hotter, from an observer's point of view now is the best time for a political accord between the rebel forces ( Notice I didn't say Taliban, since that is the exact interpretation the Afghans can unite behind )
It's enough that I know, Our time had a home, In your heart..Was a place..But the glass always breaks..

And as predicted, ever true to form, and ever willing to show his complete obedience to self preservation, Mr. Karzai proves me right:

"President Hamid Karzai on Saturday appeared to call for NATO and the United States to cease military operations in Afghanistan, but then issued a clarification saying that he was referring only to specific operations that had caused civilian casualties. "
