Barbarism is really just a biased cultural designation. It's an evocative term which tries to discredit something by creating this theatrical image of an evil doer.
Albeit it many ways it can apply; but I think when it comes to a premeditated murderer, no matter what people's silly, irrational arguments may try to convey, someone who can do something like that is rightfully dealt with in that way.
Rationally speaking, it's better to have a public execution than tax payers money used to clothed and feed an house such individuals at everyone's expense. Why reward people? And let's save all the cooked up sob stories of "being driven to murder by emotional distress" .Comment

well since that's not the next available option; then someone committing premeditated murder, was dealt with how they should been dealt with. It would be Lala Land to say that they weren't. Or is the issue here that it was made a public spectacle? If that's the case, I agree, death should never be glorified, but the guilty should always be brought to justice.Comment
