i don't want to know 'probably'. everything i read about iran is probably, maybe, could potentially and so on. i saw a doco where the president in iran, at the time of the latest invasion, was saying, he did offer to share intelligence about the taliban but **** cheney gave him the finger, didn't want to be helped by iran.

Khyberkhan is correct. The Taliban are sworn enemies of Iran and Iran knows this. Nobody was happier in this world than Iran when the Taliban and Saddam were deposed. If they did find an Iranian weapon, then they got it from a militia that Iran supports, or maybe the Taliban captured it from a militia that Iran supports.

But be sure of this, The Taliban and Iran will never get along.
Most Saudi officials are concerned that the US is shifting favoritism towards Iran. One has to wonder why would the US depose the Taliban and Saddam who were containing and isolating Iran and now has installed Iranian friendly regimes in both countries.

There are many groups that would love to see the Taliban succeed. They don't need Iranian support. Any group that wants to curb Iranian influence is pouring money and arms and begging the Taliban to fight just like the West was begging the afghans to fight during the soviet war.

people are mistaking iran giving weapons to the taliban with iran wanting the taliban back in power. iran gives weapons to the talibs to give the americans a hard time, not for the taliban to get back into power. iran used to even give weapons and money to dostum, but do u think they wanted dostum running the government? of course not.

funny thing happened. after my last statement, i opened the door and a 4foot snake came in the house. i thought it very symbolic of the fork tongued rulers we were speaking of. i am still waiting for someone to get it out of my house. it is up in the corner watching me and i am keeping an eye on it.

its not inside info when its common knowledge.

and yes, iran wants to help bleed nato in afghanistan but of course would not like the taliban back in power. its a double game, many countries play it. though as far as i know, irans contribution to the taliban is not much. the enemy of my enemy is my friend, for the time being.

i dont believe iran helps taliban i think its on the contrary.
but for the sake of the argument : so iran gives weapons to taliban which taliban on their turn use against foreign forces and afghan government to achieve their goals which iran actually oposes.do they not help taliban in that scenario to get back to power?

i dont think u understand here. iran doesnt want the taliban to achieve its goals. giving them some rockets and guns and money isnt going to topple the karzai govt or expel nato, but its enough to give them trouble. thats what iran wants, to stir up trouble for the americans, like they did in iraq. this is not the late 90s when iran had thousands of troops on the border and ready to invade afg. hell, even mullah omar in his messages has said that he wants good relations with afghanistans neighbors.

randolph, common knowledge supplied by whom? it is sure all sounding like a spy verses spy verses spy situation, because now the iranis are claiming to not want the american bases in afghanistan.
