I mean who should we blame first? should we blame others for our own stupidity and lack of education... i am sure if these people were educated in Islam at least, they would know better... if they weren't so naive... they wouldn't trust these travel agents...

its about time Afghans realize that its a jungle for them out there.. and the only way of survival they have is for everyone of them to become a tiger... or else the surrounding wolves will eat them alive.!

What are you talking about. Have you heard of Madoff, he fooled the brightest and and the richest people for the longest time. You need institutions to protect consumers. The Pakistani government is responsible to put the agent in jail. The relationship between the government, the consumers, and business entrepanuers is that the governments the shepard, the consumer is the sheep and the business entrepenuer is the wolf. Did the American government(shepard) put Madoff's victims(sheep) in jail or Madoff(wolf) himself in jail.

These passports can't be fake, because you can't fake a biometric passport, nor can there ID cards be counterfeit. On legal grounds, they are Pakistani and since Pakistan allows dual nationality they can still hold their Afghan Nationality.

What could have possibly happened is that they may have contacted some agents to acquire fake birthday cards for there subsequent documents. I think they are just being swindled by our dear Customs agency, and especially after the corruption case got filed against the government the FIA decided to show some action by putting some innocents behind bars.

Notice that the Supreme Court of Pakistan sacked the country's FIA head days after this debacle. I hope they get released soon and may Allah grant them the ajr for their journey

i think you guys didnt get the point.
These are elderly pukhtane men and women and they were put in jail.
you guys are talking about laws etc,do you think these people know about those laws?

the irony is you land in jail cuz you wanted to perform Hajj.
Its not the fault of these innocent people and they shouldnt have been treated that way.You guys are talking about the agent but the agent wasnt the one who locked them in jail.

GOE, what I'm saying is that the government is at fault for not protecting these people. These people are the victims. Feroza is blaming the victims for not being wise.

                  you are right
the question is : Didnt the government actually took their money and put these elderly Hajis in jail?
Pakistan says "Islamic republic of pakistan" "pakistan ka mathlab kya" etc
Maybe these people were also denied doing Hajj in Saudi,so they lost their money, got deported to pakistan(denied Hajis)got landed in jail, humaliated and maybe didnt even get to do the Hajj.

Fact of the matter is you can't argue with the law on emotional basis however in this case these people shouldn't have been arrested since they had valid passports, its how they obtained the ID cards is what's dubious.

thats because pakistan is full of corruption where elderly people could be put in jail because they didnt have an "ID".

But from a Pukhtun perspective these people have been disrespected and dishonoured and they had to endure that for making a pilgrimage.

Nowadays you should also have a visa to enter through torkham into pakistan.
                      what a joke
