I think the problem here is people are talking about two different things. There is only Pashtun. The athiest Pashtun versus the muslim Pashtun is not the question. Pashtun was around long before the area was converted to Islam (forcibly in most cases). My people that before from Kandahar were in Nuristan, they were converted at sword point. That should not happen to any Pashtun. All should live freely a Pashtun way and their religion should not be a problem to their brothers. If one does not want to become Muslim, let them do this and they will see after death if their choice was correct.

there are numerous reasons I say this; like for example they deny certain things which are prevalent and well known in the regio, for example the existence of Nomads in Pakhtunkhwah and afghanistan. People who are from the region are well aware of this.

also certain cultural norms they seem to respond to reflect a totally foreign perception and understanding, rather than someone in Pakhtunkhwah; for example they think the Pakhtun animosity towards sexual permissiveness is because Pakhtuns cant stand a woman making her own decisions, a very standard western or western colonized mode of perception.

All the alleged freedoms "afforded" by the west are illusory; most of the migrational pattern to western societies is a product of disturbance of the natural equilibrium that people have in their respective environments; caused by western intrusion; they have in fact robbed people of their freedom, not granted it.
