Thanks for posting this. Here is an interesting article you might enjoy about the fate of Mr Hashemi:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/26/ma...erland&emc=rss

I had the chance to meet some of the members of of this coterie here at Yale and let me tell you, the outcome was unfortunate and hypocritical.

I ardently disagree with Shlombay about the quality of an ivy league education. Yale, Harvard, Columbia, Dartmouth, UPenn all may produce strong scientists... but they have terribly crappy outcomes when it comes to producing political scientists that make any sense. They produce avid interventionalists who end up being the governing elite and screwing over America and every other country that they decide is suited to their cause. For that matter, even when it comes to science education, I still see strong engineers from places like Ohio State and Johns Hopkins (non ivy league) that can match the ivy leagues par for par. I have worked alongside doctors from small schools in Michigan that are clinical as sound as any of our graduates.

Mr. Hashemi was the classical story of a young individual with a bright mind that deserved a shot at education.

Unfortunately, Yale is far better at procuring the sons of Karzai regime ministers (Mr. Akbar for example in the article) and the sons of Pakistani generals.

Its the same sad sham of a story for the current Afghan students that actually are in the Eli Whitney program and are directly involved in the Afghan banking structure and the illegitimate government of Afghanistan. They'd never be in these slots were it not for their links to higher power. Years ago before 2001, their fathers were following up stints in mud baths in italy and other places after sitting idly by, like Dog Washers, while their countrymen fought and bled against the Russians and then against further Western interventionalism.

All in all, its terribly sad that American students with bright capable minds are not studying that these institutions, but spots are going to the sons and daughters of sheikhs from Arabia and the children of corrupt government officials in our neck of the woods.

You have to hand it to Harvard, Yale, Columbia, etc etc. they sure know how to graduate faithful elite without a modicum of common sense about how to govern in a way that is best for their people alongside graduating loyal lapdogs like this guy:

or the future Gamal Mubaraks of Afghanistan and Pakistan...

Yeah an individual from the KP side of the border, formerly here at Yale, told me that Hashemi is currently studying in Al Azhaar University. That individual has family members in the Pakistani governing elite. He told me that they are working on trying to procur this poor young man because Pakistan fears India and Afghanistan will "get to him first." May God protect him for the avarices of governance and becoming involved in this sick bloody game.
