i have been wondering for a long time, about afghanistans opium crops. why are they not being sold for the pharmaceutical trade?
there must be a lot of farmers who are dependent on these crops and would obviously be experts at producing it. they grow it here in australia so why shouldn't afghanistan benefit financially from opium crops used for legal purposes?

becouse other countries dont want us moving forward in the right direction, if we could sell it legally we would make so much from it and we can even set the prices as we produce the most in the world!

ino its stupied but they are scared if they legalise it then how will they import it themselves to sell to drug barons? most people who put up the arguments that weed, opium etc are harmfull to the body totaly disregard the benefits becouse they are weak minded and have been feed what the media wants to feed into thier little brains.

Dump the opium, and grow marijuana.

Or make morphine, and sell it to health clinics

apparently there is a shortage of opium based medicines around the world and it was put to karzai, the proposal to use the opium legally. he knocked back the idea and the americans didn't approve either, due to security concerns.

faye non of the countries want afghanistan moving forward, if the stuff was legalised the farmers would earn a better income than they are right now, alot gets stolen and smuggled out , the farmers lose out actually , and to think they are experts in this stuff as you know it takes a lot of effort to grow a crop then letting each opium bud bleed all is done by hand, alot of farmers crops have been bombed by the USA ect , and on top of it the security is not good.

there has to be ways for afghanistan to make money other than these bloody noxious mines that are going to be giant blemishes on your landscapes, leaching toxins into the soil and the water supplies. that is what they do. i have seen the huge holes in the ground here in australia and seen canals of water left behind with signs up warning people not to swim. 'danger! toxic!' and that is here where we are supposed to be so protective of the environment. when they go into poor countries, that don't have all the environmental protections in place, they just rape and pillage the land. sorry, guys. just something i feel really passionate about. sometimes i see australia as one of those swiss cheeses with all the holes in them..

WARNING: THIS IS NOT AN ADD FOR SMOKING DOPE:
actually idiot, i have just been reading that cannabinoids, i think it is, in marijuana has been shown to be useful in treatment of cancer. this has been known and left undeveloped for about 36 years. 2 years ago some spanish scientists found the same thing but no interest shown from those who financially support such projects. i am assuming this doesn't mean, the smoking of it as smoke inhalation is not beneficial. america is already using the herb medicinally and i saw an interview with a governor of one of their states talking about the idea of them legalising it but taxing it. states need the cash.
the other thing is hemp, made from the nonintoxicating plant. i am told these don't need a lot of water to feed. as far as i know australia also grows the plant for hemp and it is used for all sorts of things including fabrics for clothing and socks.
