Pa khair to all members!
It's been brought to our attention that some of us are not being careful in the way we express ourselves on the forum. We, PF moderators, encourage and support all types of debates and discussions on any topics that interest PF members, but we ask that you be civil in every post of yours. Below are some points that we ask all PF'ers to bear in mind during all discussions.
- PF does not condone--rather, does not accept--comments that are directed towards a particular individual, group, culture, religion, etc. Threads and posts intended to insult or harass an individual, a group, a religion, a culture, a deity, etc. are therefore not permitted and will not be tolerated on PF. We give equal respect to all people, and if we can't respect anyone (because some of us might believe that respect is earned), we certainly don't have any right to disrespect anyone.
- Avoid making generalizations about an entire group/nation of people.
There are many alternative (non-negative) ways of expressing your thoughts. Tip: Using words like perhaps, appear/seem, some (or many or certain), I think, it is believed, according to ..., etc. are more professional, closer to correct, and more appreciated.
- Concrete evidence must be presented when claims are made against any member/individual, religion, people, etc. However, the language you use in making your claim should not be abusive/insulting. Remember: Insults and abuses are weapon only of the weak.
- Let us also, for a moment, focus our attention on the word "Porkistan" (or "na-Pakistan"), which PF moderators and many PF members find immature and silly. To some members here and to Pakistanis, it is insulting as well. You can make a perfectly good and legitimate argument and statement against Pakistan without calling it "Porkistan." Thus, while we encourage and even urge you to hold and participate in discussions on all possible topics, we do not tolerate nor support insulting and disrespectful remarks towards/against anyone, especially without any facts or sources; we consider such lack of evidence to be inarticulate and irate.
Negative language is therefore discouraged.
- Suggestion: Try not to allow disagreements among your peers prevent possible good friendships from being formed. (After all, what's the fun in having everything in common with your friends?)
Thank you for your cooperation, all! Keep up with the great work all of you do; your contribution does not go unnoticed.
