Ineffective in eastern Afghanistan, but effective in the south. Do they plan on bulldozing villages with them like the Soviets, is the question?

Anyone following current events is aware of the lengths terrorists have gone in recent times to convince the general public they are succeeding against the ASF and ISAF. The unfortunate truth, innocent civilians continue to pay the highest price. For example the last weeks IED attacks in Afghanistan claimed the lives of more than 30 innocent civilians. It is no secret that these brutal terrorists indiscriminately target innocent civilians in shopping centers, mosques and schools in a bid to destabilize the Afghanistan and Pakistan region. Should we not be vigilant against a terrorist enemy who boasts of human trophy killings as they continue to claim innocent lives?
Should we not bring to the conflict every weapon in our arsenal against terrorism? Battle tanks are a weapon used in integration with soldiers and air support. This is not the first use of tanks in Afghanistan; both the Canadians and the Danes have previously employed them in Afghanistan. As for American troops this will be the first Marine tank company embedded with security forces in southern Afghanistan. As you all know, RC-SW has long been a hotbed of insurgent activity, and Afghan and Coalition forces have encountered tough fighting as they cleared insurgents away from population centers in the Helmand. The capabilities that these tanks provide enable the Marines to isolate insurgent forces from key population centers and provide the ability to project power into insurgent safe havens. The superior optics, maneuverability and precision firepower of the M1A1 Abrams tanks are very helpful to ISAF and our Afghan partner security forces. The deployment of battle tanks enables our forces to secure and observe key routes and areas where insurgents typically place IEDs. The M1A1's optics also help identify insurgent safe havens, fortifications or massed insurgent forces before they become a threat. There are several key population areas south of the Helmand River, from the edge of the river valley and down to the Pakistani border areas which are vast, open, and rugged deserts. Tanks will be effective in interdicting insurgent forces who attempt to use these areas to smuggle fighters, weapons, explosives, money and drugs. I would call your attention to this blog post from an Army officer who has served in Afghanistan recently. His words will shed light on the issue:

Tanks to Afghanistan, a Soldier Writes - NYTimes.com

We have conducted an extensive coordination campaign about the use of tanks for civilian protection with Shuras, district governors, elders and local authorities. To say that terrorists pose a serious threat to our nations is an understatement and we will use every weapon including tanks to defeat evil doers who spread an ideology of hatred.
Allow me to clarify our intention in Afghanistan to our forum readers. We are not interested in keeping our military presence in Afghanistan a day longer than necessary. Our soldiers, along with their Afghan partner security forces, are working on a daily basis towards the day when Afghanistan is a land free from Taliban brutality and brave Afghan sons and daughters provide security and stability for their sovereign country.

You means sort of like these guys?

US soldiers 'killed Afghan civilians for sport and collected fingers as trophies' | World news | The Guardian

I am vehemently, Anti-Taliban, but being Anti-Taliban doesn't mean supporting Corrupt Imperialist Interests by using Taliban as their pretext.
The enemy's enemy is not my friend in this case.

Calling yourself "Noorzai Jehani" doesn't add to any inkling of credibility by the way.
