It isn't so obvious to me. Some people are against them, other are for them. But I do know that with their economy in recession and rapidly aging population on one hand and the rapidly rising hypernationalism and belligerence of China, they are becoming more and more dependent on US largesse for their protection.

As for India, in what way is India "compliant". How many Indian troops have been involved in US military adventures ? Is India part of any US led military alliance ? Does India receive any military aid from US ? In fact US would like India to hand over Kashmir to Pakistan in exchange for Paki Army going after the Haqqani faction and killing more Pashtuns. Is that going to happen ?

BTW in case you don't know US sent its air craft carrier Enterprise to the Bay of Bengal to pressurize India to stop defending the Bengalis. Did India comply ?
