United States Central Command strongly condemns the vicious and unjust assault on the journalist Mr. Razeq Mamon. Mr. Mamon, whose only crime is seeking the truth, suffered deep injuries when acid was thrown on his face. We wish him a God’s speed in his recovery and return to full health.
The assault on Mr Razeq Mamon the Afghan journalist, is yet another example of a criminal act against the Afghan media to prevent them from revealing the progress achieved by Afghan Security and Coalition Forces in Afghanistan, and to prevent them from revealing the truth against those who use wickedness, violence and hatred to try to stop Afghans from achieving freedom.
Mr Razeq Mamon, among the bravest of Afghans, contributes to the rebuilding and reconciliation of his country through his honest and honorable reporting. There are still those who do not want people like Mr Razeq to tell the truth about good and about evildoers like the corrupt, the Taliban and al Qaeda. To Mr. Mamon we say, the road you have opened for democracy and a prosperous Afghanistan we will work to keep open.
We do not know who committed this brutal attack. However, we will work together with the Afghan security forces to find these criminals and bring them to justice. We, like Mr. Mamon, will work towards the day that there are no longer criminal and immoral act against humanity in Afghanistan.
Respectfully,
