Stephen P. Cohen is a noted scholar and expert of South Asian affairs. He established relationship with Pakistan Army during Zia regime and authored a book "Pakistan Army" in 1981 the second edition of which was published in 1998. The second edition contains a chapter in the end describing futuristic scenarios for Pakistan. His prophecy is, if Pakistan couldn't be reformed in a peaceful way it may come down with a bang. I think if a pro-Pakistani like Stephen P. Cohen says this, that indicates a general disillusionment in foreign affairs experts in US with Pakistan

It must be remebered he is also sympatheic towards Pakistan and its establishment writing books on Pakistan ideology and even justifying it. For that reason, he is also disliked by Indians.

When he says such things that may be indicative of big things to come. I remember in 2001 just at the time of American attack on Taleban, Robert D Kaplan the famous analyst had written an essay saying that there are two states in South and Central Asia poised to disintegrate. Therefore, one should not rule out the possibility that in a 10 years span both Pakistan and Afghanistan disintegrate resulting into myraid of small state entities.

This is a very short wikipedia article about Cohen. He also authored a book on the idea of Pakistan.

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_P._Cohen

He is considered to be sympathetic towards Pakistan and so has been criticized by Indians. Below is one such Indian view about him.
"So how does Dr Cohen do what he does? If indeed, he is a supporter of the worst aspect of Pakistan, how does he do it? What exactly is his methodology to get away with his perpetual support for the Pakistani Army against India, and against the Pakistani people? They are after all the worst bunch of mass murderers since the Khmer Rouge had free rein in Cambodia.11 And how does he still do it in the post 9-11 world? His standard methodology is a dual prong strategy. For India, he uses a subtle form of repetitive reinforcement of a set number of anti-Indian points that he emphasizes in virtually every article he writes. The only difference is in the set of points he uses in any given article. But where Dr Cohen really excels is in a brilliant smoke and mirrors trick that he uses to devastating effect to promote the welfare of the Pakistani military. The main aim here is to understand this trick. His critiques of India, although clever, I will detail in the next section. But to explain his Pakistan defence I first need to take a little detour..."

i dont know this guys politics, but what he said was pretty spot on. though i never see an islamist takeover of the country. the army would take over the country at any wiff of an islamist take over.

pakistan is such a funny country. train, harbor, and export terrorists that end up biting you in the ass. reminds me of saudis who tried to export wahabism but had the same wahabbis try to fight the state. the difference being saudis sponsoring some wahabis abroad while pakis sponsored 100 different groups in their own country.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
