Whats the reason for adopting a system that is alien to your nation. Simply copy and paste does not work in every country. Look at those war-torn african countries which adopted western democracy concepts. They are dying. And this is colonial heritage. Take a good look at your nation and your country, is it impossible to progress with a policy that Afghanistan is familiar with?Originally posted by AfghanSoulja View PostBy having them you have something to improve on, by having them you can improe law and order..having them is the first step towards rebuilding the country. Darweshkhel I was talking about strengthening institutions..I never once mentioned western ideals of governance. I don't believe in a system where 49% of the people get to suffer at the hands of the other 51%. We are still coming out of war let's see how the new constituion works, so far the jirga has thrown us to the dogs so I can understand why no one here has that much faith in institutions

It doesn't make any sense. People are spoiled so they don't adhere to the laws of the land?Originally posted by Wardakprince^Not 80 percent is controlled by the Taliban, You kind of exagerrated there.
What's absent is public adherence to our laws. People are spoiled and they know there is an easy way out to everything.
People are starving, they are being robbed and pillaged by the army and police.
Get your facts straight.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

what this does is puts corrupt people in powerful positions, institutions weaken and foreign players move in..Also people like us who can get out of the country do very little to help our fellow countrymen, sure we can all write up blogs and talk about all these problems but none of us have any idea about the miseries of our people..we have abondoned them and they have no choice but to turn to mullahz who atleast will be there to help them rebuild their homes
How did the people "elect" corrupt leaders when no election can be possibly held in a country where the central government has no authority beyond city boundires of the capital?
And how is an election with over 40 candidates and where less than 5% of the population have voted according to the reports of any value?
You are assuming that the elections held in Afghanistan decides who runs the country. Which is a lie.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

Who said?.... I said so. Go to Afghanistan and see it for youself. You will get shot, killed and nobody will be convicted.Originally posted by Darweshkhel View PostNice topic. Who says there is absence of rule of law in Afghanistan & Pakistan?
You will be robbed and pillage and nobody will be punished.
You will loose your home, your land, and nobody will guaranty you justice or return you your possessions.
Only thing that counts, is how much money do you have and which warlord or foreign contingent are you allied with.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

Money does not improve the quality of a police force or army that is led by people who years ago would massacre civilians for living and gang-raped women in public.Originally posted by naziaI think its because the police and government servants are underpaid.
Darweshkhel, I will wait for your reply.
Neither does the money change the fact that vast majority of army and police are illiterate drug addicts and former foot sodliers of northern alliance.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

In most european countries, the masses usually commit some kind of offense by dodging taxes, speeding, drinking and driving etc. But you don't see their country being governed by thiefs and looters like Afghanistan, do you?Originally posted by Son of Mountains View Postin both countries, corrupt public lead to corrupt Govt.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

Nonsense. The judiciary didn't do ish.Originally posted by AfghanSoulja View PostIn pakistan atleast they have a system of governance and their judiciary is picking up pace..The judiciary overthrew a military dictator for the first time in the country's history.. In Afghanistan, even the basic structure of governance has crumbled
Musharaf was removed by the Americans and Zardari was installed. Pakistani insitititutions didn't do anything.
In Pakistan a serial killer can get convicted and a death sentence will be issued but the guy will leave prison if he has enough money to pay off the officials. I know of a case where this exact scenario was witnessed by Afghan refugees in Karachi.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

Afghanistan has also plenty of institutions. Having institutions doesn't change anything.Originally posted by AfghanSoulja View PostI'm talking about existence of institutions, they atleast have them they might be ineffectuve but atleast they have something to work on
So again, it makes no sense what so ever.
The question is,. why is there absence of rule of law?[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

Most former colonies have the exact same insitutions from the past 150 years. Over the course of history they have grown more corrupt.Originally posted by AfghanSoulja View PostBy having them you have something to improve on, by having them you can improe law and order..having them is the first step towards rebuilding the country. So you are wrong. Having institutions is no guaranty that they will improve over time.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

You don't understand the meaning of what "absence of Rule of Law" means.Originally posted by JasmineVery well said, Law deff exists in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The only problem I see is it being in effect. In Pakistan and Afghanistan, If you are rich, or part of the elite. Law cant touch you.
It does not mean that there are no laws. It means that nobody respects the laws and nobody is upholding the laws of the land and everybody is doing whatever they want using money and connections to get what they want and braking all the rules and ignoring all the laws that safeguard justice.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

Yes. But why is it so that people accept bribes and why is nobody implementing the laws?Originally posted by AlokozaiSangar what do you expect?
No one adheres to them because with money you can bribe any official. Even Abdullah Abdullah took a huge sum of bribe.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com
