  • Final Afghan parliamentary election results announced

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-11889809

The electoral authorities in Afghanistan have announced the final batch of results from September's parliamentary election.
They have confirmed that all 11 seats in Ghazni province have been won by members of the Hazara ethnic group.
The outcome in Ghazni was delayed after indications that not a single candidate from the largest ethnic group, the Pashtuns, had won a seat.
Critics say that the Ghazni result was marred by widespread fraud.
The Independent Election Commission (IEC) said preliminary winners would hold their seats in the province.
Election commission Chairman Fazel Ahmad Manawi said Wednesday the results in Ghazni were "based on international standards".
Officials discarded 1.3 million Afghan ballots - nearly a quarter of the total - for fraud and disqualified 19 winning candidates across the country for cheating.
Many of President Hamid Karzai's favoured candidates did not do well in the vote and the Pashto-speaking majority in the old parliament has now disappeared.
Supporters of the president have been warning that if Pashtuns feel disenfranchised that could mean more recruits for the Taliban.
Hazaras are the third largest ethnic group in Ghazni.

Do the results reflect majority opinion and has every ethnic group got representation in proportion to its population.

Asif, firstly welcome to Pukhtun Forums.

No this election does not represent Afghanistan at all. A perfect example is Ghazni, a Pashto speakng predominant Pashtun province is being represented by Dari speaking Hazaras. Imagine a Pashtun of Laghman representing Bamiyan province. How can a parliament function when it's largest ethnic group is missing? Taliban will gain more support form the Pashtuns now. Just sit back and watch.

^Ghazni is predominant pashtoon province? who said that? any afghan knows this that ghazni is more than 40% hazara ...
and Hazaras don't speak dari, they speak hazaragi.

anyways! the result definitely doesn't represent the province, since it has a huge pashtoon community (basically the province is divided between hazaras and pashtoons)... the reason why hazaras won is because a few people who got out to vote were hazaras... and they have strong political ground in ghazni so they can do fraud if they want. Ghazni is also one of the strong hold of taliban and izbe Islami, most pashtoons stayed out of this election, hence the results.

Logar, and Ghazni despite being so diverse where the minorities in the country are close ot majority, are still two strong holds of taliban.

Have you lost your mind? Has your account been hacked or something? Hazaras are 40 percent and Pashtuns are NOT Majority in Ghazni? Are you not having proper sleep??

It's from the government of Afghanistan. Read it carefully.
Pahtuns ARE Majority in Ghazni. Here read, study and educate yourself.
Hazaras speak Dari, which is an official language as a medium of business.

You are wrong AGAIN! Even the article Asif posted clearly says they are the THIRD largest ethnic group.

It's a shame when Pashtuns don't know about their own statistics and when they try to justify nonsense. It's a shame I tell ya. Ignorance makes me throw up!

Even the article mentioned Pashtuns being the largest. People should really read the topic first and then comment.

This is a shame in Ghazni. I wouldn't be surprised if they all join the Taliban!!

why r u on the verge or pulling all your hair out. are you OK? it looks like u are about to run wild and hit ur head to the wall or something. relax lol

I did not say that pashtoons are 20%... if you read my post carefully i said the province is divided between pashtoons and hazaras and your statistic that you have posted is saying 51% pashtoons. its only 1 percent more than my guess. I get my information from people, and you get your information from Media that doesn't know anything about Afghanistan...

Hazaras don't speak Dari, it shows how ignorant you are about Afghanistan. they speak hazaragi which is not an official language of Afghanistan, so for them to communicate officially through Dari is easier. because hazaragi is very close to Dari. their language is not recognized language just like its the case with many other languages in Afghanistan.

but everything else aside... in Ghazni pashtoons are mostly either with taliban or izbe islami or against the government... that totals up the number of pashtoons that live in GHazni... the ones that elected themselves in election lost because of fraud and also the fact that pashtoons didn't get out to vote either.

now most hazaras are pro-government and anti-taliban. so i am sure they made sure they win seats... its important for their survival in Ghazni.

oh AND, the website that you gave me for statistical information is too old my friend...

Jaghatu (where i am actually from) is now under Wardak province. so i am sure now that 51% of ghazni is no longer pashtoon because a number of wolaswali in Ghazni is now under wardak province. u need to update your data base lol... thats the problem when people just randomly google something... lol how funny!

and as far as the topic is concerned. i am sure the people of Ghazni know how to take care of themselves and their province. i dont need to scream and cry like other kids here lol. I as an outsider (living comfortably in a western country) shouldn't be the one commenting on how they should live their life and who should win what.

let the pashtons and hazaras of ghazni figure it out themselves...

edit: i don't have time for more nonsense... i will not read ur response with another googled website... the elections are a fraud and even kids knows it. politically Afghanistan is way more complex than our simple minds.

Feroza, look at that other link and look at what BBC said. Everything I posted disagrees with your absurd claim. BBC, provincial data, Afghan govt all says they are the third largest ethnic group(hazaras). I am perfectly calm, I was just shocked at your absurd claim!

This is a shame that Pashtuns have NO represenatation in a province which is majority THEM! And that an ethnic group who is 1/3rd of the population has won all the seats!
