  • Building for a girls high school to be built in Badakshan; Laboratory inaugurated for

Afghanistan’s ministry of education issued press releases this week in which they announced that a stone laying ceremony was held for a new building that will be built for a girls high school in Afghanistan’s north eastern province of Badakshan, and a laboratory has been built for a high school in the province of Ghazni.

The building that will be built in Badakshan province is for the Najibullah Shaheed High School, located in the city of Faizabad. According to the press release issued on Tuesday, October 26th, the building will take 1 year to build at a cost of $420,000. Funding for the construction will come from the Provincial Reconstruction Team and the work will be done by the Lajwar Badakshan Construction Company. Once completed, the building will house 24 classrooms.

On Wednesday, October 27th, an education ministry press release said that an inauguration ceremony was held for a new laboratory for the Wakeel Mohammad Jan Khan Kuchi High School in Ghazni province. The cost to build the laboratory was $4500. The press release also said 200 beds with blankets, mattresses, and pillows were given to the school’s dormitory.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

what are you guys talking about? there are numerous and i mean numerous development projects underway in southern areas... kandahar city is a prime example of it. the city has witnessed alot of development far before other cities in northern areas.

please don't Exaggerate things...the reality is that southern states would have far more developed that what it is already if the insurgency was not so powerfull there. it is just unsafe for people to work in those areas... despite all of this ... roads are being built, schools, labs, private universities, factories are being built in southern areas...

there are actually manfucturing companies ( a couple ) in southern states that don't exist any where else in Afghanistan.

but aside from everything else... u should not ignore the fact that whatever development takes place in afghanistan is solely for Afghan people... north , south , east or west... and the mere thought should make you happy that Afghan citizens are being provided with some better quality of life...

needless to say... there are fair amount of pashtoons living in herat, mazar, badakhshaan, shamali and panjsher... any development there also means its available for pashtoons living there as well... and other Afghans for the matter of fact.

Could you name a few projects by the way and the companies in the south you are talking about? Authentic sources are needed instead of vain claims. Besides, why are not you this prompt to reply to Khadir and Parsiwan or participate in discussions in the thread where a poor Pashtun student has complained of discrimination at the hands of Tajak officials in Afghan embassy in India, who already have managed the deportation of 15 Pashtun students from India just because of their ethnicity and language?

Every province deserves schools and universities. No matter if most developments are mostly in the North, South, East, West. Its the country as a whole.

Going back the the thread, its great to hear of this development both in Badakhshan's new high school, and laboratory in Ghazni. I do hope the lab supplies will be a sufficent amount, since lab supplies are a little pricey. Anyways, its one step towards a development

could u name some development projects that are going on in Northern states so extensively that are not going on in southern... or are you also speaking out of your stomach? You make it sound like Afghanistan is heaven in north and hell in south... people are deprived of education, clean water, and health care al over AFghanistan... poverty has striken the country east to west to north to south. it is a disaster and the little efforts they put to develop the country is actually bombed back to rubble...

if you would be so kind enough to stop sending us suicide bombers from pakhtoonkhwa , AFghanistn will contribute more in southern areas than it is already doing - "jaan hatheli par le ke"... i am sure u don't keep up with the news to know how many engineers and contractors have lost their lives due to kidnapping and suicide bombing in southern states... Pashtoons are stupid themselves, why do we complain about others?

and what do you want me to answer to Khidr? he clearly wrote in his first post that he has never witnessed such racism in any pashtoon he has ever met face to face and he is surprised to see all the hate in this forum. frankly speaking, he is giving hate after receiving it from all of you here... if you preach hatred don't expect much love either...

and if his intentions are ill from beginning then he is like you... only on the other end.. you hate tajiks and he hates pashtoons... you both have nothing to be proud of... you both are ignorant and you deserve only khaamooshi... "jawab e kharaaan/jaahilaan khamooshi ast"...

As a Pashtana that is a concern to me, It might not be to you but its a huge concern to me. The only reason Kandahar gets development projects is because its the 2nd largest city of Afghanistan and one of the largest provinces but does only Kandahar represent Pashtuns? what about Kunar?Helmand who still doesn't have a University? We shouldn't sit quiet and blame everything on Pashtuns, we are suffering whether you like it or not!

As a Journalist who travels to Afghanistan very frequently, I am aware of ground realities, and ground realities are Tajiks will sell you if necessary. Don't believe me? I can post editorials, If you really want me to go that far. Editorials of Pashtuns complaining that they are treated worse than junk in the north. Before you tell me Pashtuns have treated them bad, that is not true. Think twice before you say that. There are 20percent non-Pashtuns in Kandahar province which is over a million population and they all live peacefully and happily. They are Shia hazaras in Kandahar, they are peacefully allowed to do what they want but in Northern provinces, things get really different. Just because you have seen a few Tajiks who seem lovely in California does not mean that is the reality. Reality is when you actually visit Kabul City and when you see what is the status of your Pashto.

No bad intentions from my side at all, I just wish to offer you that piece information that I have acquired from my trips. We are over 50 percent of the population yet you will feel like you are a minority ever since the Taliban have left. When the Taliban were in power, I swear it felt like the entire country was Pashtun and Pashto speaking.
****** taliban... if talibaan are the ones representing pashtoon i don't ever wanna be called pashtoon... if rabani , masood, dostum, and other stupid warlords represent these ethnic groups in Afghanistan then to HELLLL with AFghanistan... but the truth is that they DON"T... they ar all sold out puppets of different countries...

I don't know when you have travelled to afghanistan and how recent your observation is but i have gone to Afghanistan TWICE! and NO i didn't feel like a minority.. the Kabul city -which most of you claim to be Farsi dominated is so pashtoon dominated that you will be surprised. you are saying that all these pashtoons who own businesses and work in different departments in AFghanistn are all sold out and are not doing ANYTHING to develop the pashtoon areas? i don't think so!... most of the business in afghanistan is owned and operated by pashtoons because pashtoons are born business men! I don't understand how can someone like you who claims to have gone to Afghanistan is saying such things?

and warlords? they are all busy filling their own pockets they don't give a flying about south, east, west or north. that is true about pashtoon warlords and tajik and uzbak...

i think twice before saying pashtoons have mistreated tajiks, hazaras and uzbaks? are you Ok jasmine? u clearly dont know ANYTHING about afghanistan or its history. the mistreatment that pashtoons get from tajiks today , is the fruit of what pashtoons have done for hundreds of years...

i can post 100000 editorials from hazaras who will tell you how they have been mistreated by pashtoons and ae still mistreated. and i am not even a journalist that you claim to be.

don't see things from one perspective... u are a pashtana then u need to prove your patriotism by singing chants of unity... ur country is at a verge of end... its better not to dig old graves...

As you ridiculously claimed there are manufactoring companies operating in the south of Afghanistan and an equal amount of development work being carried out there, the onus of proof lays on you to back it with authentic evidence. Can you quote here some statistics to show us how much of the Afghan federal resources are diverted to the development of south?

Nevertheless, my point in replying to you was not an expression of disappointment with the school established in Badakhshan; obviously, everyone independent of race and langauge has the right to have access to education and other amenities of life provided that opportunity is evenly distributed.

My purpose was to point to your duplicity in being ultra-agile to get at members'throats when they say something about Tajaks/Farswans but remaining absolutely indifferent to when things are said or done against Pashtuns.

Now, I fail to understand as what it is that binds you so tightly to Tajakan/Farsiwanan. May be you are living in a Tajak vicinity where you are continuously being taunted for hailing from a race that is so brutal, tribalistic, cruel, etc. as Farsiwanan/Tajakan would like the entire world to believe and as a consequence you've developed this low self-esteem as a Pashtun. Or may be there is some other reason.

As for the association of kings of Afghanistan or Taleban with Pashtuns or the presumed attrocities they committed, that is what our history is; we own it and we are not feeling embarrassed or apologetic about it like you. And that is what the dynamics of power are. Those who have power tend to retain it no matter what it needs them to do that. That is also what NA did when it grabbed power. Were Ahmad Shah Baba a Tajak or Farsiwan, Pashto would've long been vanished from the south of Afghanistan as Burhannuddin Rabbani has made his intent clear by calling Afghanistan a Kishwar-i-Farsi Zaban. In fact, it was the large-heartedness of the so-called Pashtun kings of Afghanistan to let the Farsi dominate the cultural life of Afghanistan.

And Mrs/Miss Feroza_Bano, hope you abstain from badmouthing Pashtuns no matter which side they are from. Every body should see your tactic. You are kind of trying to convince the Pashtuns to the west of Durand of their evil nature and the villain-ness role as you claim they have played in Afghanistan by oppressing non-Pashtun minorities. Obviously, your purpose and the purpose of those whose cause you adocate here is to make Pashtuns feel apologetic and passive/complacent about their future role.

For Pashtuns of Pukhtunkhwa, you have got another tactic. You call them suicide bombers.

Probably, you don't know or are in the habit of forgetfulness that right now Haqqanis, Omars, and Hikmatyars are sitting in FATA etc. not that Pashtunkhwa Pashtuns want them but because they can't do anything about their unwanted presence there. Nevertheless, sensible Pashtunkhwa Pashtuns know who is harbouring them. They don't blame Pashtuns of Afghanistan for that.
