MANSEHRA, Oct 14: Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Thursday initiated distribution of Watan Cards among the flood victims in Hazara. He also announced Rs100 million for carrying out development projects in Battagram.
“With the strong support of people we had won the war against the terror and now with the same enthusiasm we are all out to help the flood victims in the province and time is not far when all floodstricken families would be re habilitated,” said Mr Hoti while speaking at a ceremony in Battagram.
The chief minister who was also accompanied by provincial ministers Bashir Ahmad Bilour and Rahimdad Khan also visited Kohistan and initiated the distribution of Watan Cards there.
Mr Hoti said the government had established its writ in Swat and the security forces were behind the terrorists who fled Swat and were attempting to regroup in Mardan and other parts of province.
The chief minister said the ANP-led government had faced numerous challenges after coming into power and rehabilitation of the flood stricken families was one of them. Earlier, speaking in Kohistan the CM said that the government would not leave alone the flood victims in this critical juncture of their life.
Mr Hoti said he was well aware that Kohistan was one of the highly backward districts in province and flood had further enhanced the miseries of the people but added: “We would take steps to address poverty and other issues to bring the Kohistan at par with other developed districts.” Mr Hoti also admired the role of police and district administration who despite the blockade of Karakorum Highway helped the flood affected people in the district.
Giving briefing to the chief minister, representatives of district administration said that about 26,000 people would be compensated through the Waton Cards.
The chief minister also advised the administrations in Kohistan and Battagram to ensure delivery of Watan Cards as early as possible.
