  • YSP to establish “Model Primary Schools” in flood-hit areas

ISLAMABAD, Oct 4 (APP)- Youth Senate of Pakistan (YSP), a symbolic legislative institution has a plan to establish “Model Primary Schools” in flood affected areas of the country.* Founder member YSP Hanan Ali Abbasi told APP on Monday, that Pakistan battles an unprecedented catastrophe, funds are desperately needed to help deliver food aid and educational services to stave off further loss of primary education.

He said that in first phase YSP will establish at least 10 model schools in severely affected areas.******
“The overall objective of the consultation is to provide an avenue for discussing and agreeing upon the key contours of a roadmap that could set the direction and dynamics of flood relief, reconstruction and rehabilitation in education sector of Pakistan”, he added.**
Hanan further stated that the schools will be consisting of two rooms and a bathroom for the flood-affected areas which could be constructed and opened in one month time, adding that the two-room model schools would cost Rs0.29 million each.
The money for the construction of the first 10 schools would be collected by Youth Senate of Pakistan (YSP) volunteers on a self-help basis while work on the first model school would start in Nowshera next week.

He said around 35 youth centres would be chosen in the country after scrutinising applications by October 20 which would play important role in sensitising social and political circles towards helping the children of flood-affected areas who were deprived of educational facilities.
