PESHAWAR (APP): The Political Authorities of FR Tank has completed various uplift schemes in FR Tank that will help improve the life standards of the local communities. The FR Tank Administration has constructed a flood protection wall which will save the agricultural lands and houses of the area from future flooding. A press release issued from Directorate of Information FATA, FATA Secretariat here on Monday, said that flood protection wall is constructed for the community of Wali Jan Kach, Babar Mala Khel of FR Tank. This area is mostly dependent on agriculture lands to grow crops as livelihood and income source however, due to threats of devastating floods the fertile lands of the poor farming communities were under danger to be washed away. On their request, the FR administration prioritized and constructed 168 meter long flood protection wall to save acres of lands, livestock and human life from flooding. This scheme will benefit 2080 individuals of Warghara, a Bhitani sub-tribe, living in FR Tank. The release added that this community is located on one of the main routes between FR Tank and District Tank. The local community and elders were closely associated in the planning, execution work of the scheme which resulted in timely and quality work completion. The community of the area has thanked the government for responding positively to their dire needs to save their fertile lands and houses from the future flooding. They have extended their full cooperation and support to the government authorities in maintenance of law and order and development of the area. They hoped that it would help people engage in farming on their land to get self employment and livelihood opportunities at their doorsteps.

^ oh no according to a new geological survey these floods will be revisiting central asia quite often

According to a British academician, Lord Julian Hunt, who is a former head of the Meteorological Office, there is a danger that Pakistan and the Indian subcontinent in general will become the focus of much more regular catastrophic flooding. He has pointed out that heavy monsoon precipitation has increased in frequency in Pakistan and western India in recent years and this trend is fuelled both by global warming and intensification and alteration of the El Nino cycle.
