PESHAWAR: Cantonment General Hospital would be upgraded to a 500-bed hospital with the latest medical equipment to be provided by the management of Al-Razi Medical College.
This was stated by Professor Dr. Umar Ali Khan, who has taken charge as Principal Dean of the newly-established Al-Razi Medical College, University Town , while inaugurating the construction work at the hospital on Sunday. Dr Umar is a former Principal of Khyber Medical College, Peshawar and BannuMedical College, Bannu.
Dr. Umar Ali Khan said that the hospital would have the capacity of 700 indoor patients and efforts would be made to increase the number to over 1000 patients.
He said a highly qualified faculty had been recruited for Al-Razi Medical College in all the specialties and the college was being made a model one in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said 70 per cent of the expenditure in the upgradation of the Cantonment General Hospital would be borne by the management of the AMC.
Dr. Umar Ali Khan said that the college would not only be a good addition to medical colleges in Peshawar but due to heavy and planned investment and equipped with latest facilities, it would be among the top ranking colleges of the country. The structure of the building had been designed on the pattern of international medical colleges.
He said in the first phase MBBS classes would be started but after completion of the dental college and dental complex, BDS classes would also be commenced. The college will soon be visited by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and Khyber Medical University and will be recognised and affiliated in due course, he added.
He said the upgradation work was recently inaugurated by Brigadier Muzzafar Ali Khan.
He said prominent PhD faculty members in the college were Dr. Shereen Muhammad, Dr. Muhammad Shafiq, Dr. Taj Ali Khan, Dr. Mansoor, Dr. Mazhar, Dr. Anjam Saeed, Dr. Nisar Muhammad and many others. He said the college would admit students soon after recognition and affiliation was granted by the PM&DC and KMU. – APP
