  • CESSD provides food packages to 250 flood effected families

CHITRAL: Communication for Effective Social Service Delivery (CESSD) has selected a number of water supply schemes in the district which had gone inoperative due to the lack of public participation. Talking to the local media here on Friday, the coordinator of CESSD, Kamal Abdul Jamil said that after completion of the schemes by different development projects in the past, the people had abandoned them in the absence of any effective organizing agent while the scarcity of safe drinking water is the common issue across the district. He said that the schemes are being revitalized with the active participation of the local concerned community for which his organization has two-pronged strategy of establishing a link between the government department and the community and organizing the people by imparting them necessary training and providing them with required resources. Mr. Jamil said that he there was lack of participatory approach for rural development in Chitral and this has resulted in failure of the different development projects when the government withdrew its support after their completion. He said that his organization also reinstated four water supply schemes in Barenis, Prayeet and Drosh villages which had been washed away by the recent flash floods. He said that on the demand of the flood affected people, a complete food package was provided to 250 families in different flood-hit villages. He said that the distribution of food ration completed just before the last Eidul Fitre.
