Well, in general, you should aim for successful companies that are usually releasing new products. For example, a great American company to invest in is Apple. They are always releasing great products and have limited stores outside the states. That makes the demand higher and shares more valuable.

A great company to invest in right now is RIM, RIM is now releasing a new Tablet which will have a great demand since its specifications are state-of-the art. I would avoid companies like Blockbuster and its likes.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

i hear that Costco (if you are in the US) and Nike are both really good investments.

what my parents do for investments are: buy houses (since they are so cheap at the current market value), fix them inside and out (only if needed), rent it off, and when its the right time, sell it. We have done that with 2 houses, and we get a good amount of extra money monthly. Plus if my parents want to move to a small house after retirement, we have one available that will be paid off by then.

Also i believe my parents have a lot of investments in CDs.

But as you know now, never invest in the stock market.
