How is it a shame? Men like yourself are not joining the army and you're going to keep the daughters of Malalai and Nazo from joining it, too? Afghanistan is not only your Nang, it is not only your Namoos. We women happen to love it just as much - if not more - and if need be I will give my life for Afghanistan any day, without a single second of doubt.
This is our country as much as it is yours. If you and I sit in KSA and USA... at least let those women sitting in the ruins of Kandahar and Kunar defend their country that is everything to them.

"This type of human" applies to you, as well, as you said you would join whatever group... but you don't.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should. But if you're not going to fight for Afghanistan and I'm not going to fight for Afghanistan.. who are we to decide who is worthy of defending Afghanistan? Who are we to say who should and who shouldn't be part of the army? Even if they are women, even if they are girls, even if they are disabled, even if they are Pashtuns/Tajiks/Hazara/Uzbaks, even if they are from a poor family, in this matter, they are better thanmany of us here on PF ever will be. We talk the talk, they actually walk the walk.
I did not say that I would go right now and join this army, I said that "I would give my life for Afghanistan". There is a difference, so your statement "Why don't you go to Afghanistan this minute and join the army?" has no base.

is this about the army in itself or the idea that you don't want women in an army?
Do you not support this because you don't like this government and this army.. or do you just not like the idea of women being in the army?
And no, words don't hurt me.

I am not as wise and knowledgeable as many others here, but since you have asked me brother for my opinion, I will answer you. I think it is about one's upbringing. My knowledge of Qu'ran says that men and women are equal, though having often different duties. I have seen women in my family in rural Pakistan working harder than I ever saw a man work-as I said this is my experience. It is not part of their cultural to take "the bullet" but they take it in other ways. Yet women in other parts of the world feel called to fight as men fight, let them follow the voice they hear, only Allah can judge what is right.
Both men and women have different motivations for joining an army. Sometimes it is as Master Khan said, because of poverty. Young men and women in many countries of the world, East and West join the army so as to have a job, in order to take care of their families. If our governments were not so corrupt and GREEDY then the need to take work in an army might not even exist.
Many, as our sisters here have said believe in Afghanistan and see fighting for something they believe in a noble thing to do. Maybe they can fight in a way men can not, only time will tell.
"Know that a word suddenly shot from the tongue is like an arrow shot from the bow." How many women and men suffer from words shot out without thought?
Strength is not just of muscle. Or better said the brain is a very strong muscle. Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said once "Power consists not in being able to strike another, but in being able to control oneself when anger arises. The best people are those most useful to others."
We all have an opinion. So you ask for mine? Maybe what I wish is like wishing for Paradise, I wish that the only reason we needed armies, male or female would be to help save lives in natural disasters otherwise I do not like the idea of armies, as I said many hours earlier concerning Allah's conditions of the fight.
But there is evil in this world, it is not yet Paradise or not so everywhere. There is injustice, and so perhaps we men and women must fight, but we must fight justly.
I believe in confronting ones enemy whether the enemy be in us, or outside of us.
We come into this world alone and we leave it alone, and answer only to Allah, so let each decide for her/himself how one is to live.

They are nothing but a coin with two sides, doesn't matter if you join one of them! and man you need some rest check your replies you are totally confused!
Life is like posing for pictures. We pose the way we want to be seen by others. But stolen shots are better. They capture who we really are...
Its a brave thing to recruit women in armed forces. Especially in countries like ours. Though I believe they wont be used for combat roles, I commend them for their courage. My respects.
