  • 2 new school buildings inaugurated in north eastern Afghanistan

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Education announced recently in press releases that 2 new buildings have been inaugurated for schools located in north eastern Afghanistan.
One building was inaugurated for a girl’s high school in the Jabal Saraj district of Parwan province. The building has 24 classrooms, 2 administrative rooms, a laboratory, a security room, a room with a generator, and 7 restrooms. The building was constructed thanks to financial assistance from the Kapisa Provincial Reconstruction Team. The cost of the construction was $312,000 and it took 9 months to complete the project.
Also, in the Nijrab district of Kapisa province, a building for a middle school was inaugurated. An education ministry press release stated that the building has 8 classrooms and 2 administrative rooms. A drinking well was also built for the school. The project took 2 years to complete at a cost of 2,685,000 afghanis (approx. $59,000). Funding for this project came mostly from the Afghan government.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
