  • Rebuilding of water canal to begin, and new power sub-station inaugurated

In an effort to restore the water resources in Afghanistan’s western region, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Water and Energy has announced that restoration work will soon begin on the Joy-e-now water canal in the Injil district of Herat province. Injil district surrounds Herat city, and it borders Kushk district to the north, Guzara district to the south, Zinda Jan district to the west and Karukh district to the east. According to Afghanistan’s Tolo news, “The project will include canal digging of 345,000 cubic meters, 9,000 cubic meters of gravelling and other technical work.”
According to the ministry, the project will improve the water management system and modernize irrigation, and when the project is completed, no more water will be wasted in the Injil district of Herat. The project which will cost more than US $8 million will be paid for by loans from the Asian Development Bank, added the ministry. The work is scheduled to be completed in 2 years.
Also, on Saturday, Afghanistan’s Acting Minister of Water & Energy and former Herat governor, Mohammad Ismael Khan, and female parliamentarian Qadria Ezdan Parast, inaugurated an 80 megawatt power sub-station in the Botkhak area of Kabul province. Because of this new power sub-station, about 63,000 families in the area will have access to electricity.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
