  • PASHTUNFORUMS AID For Flood Victims in Pakistan

السلام علیکم و رحمة الله و برکاته

Dear members and visitors of Pashtunforums,

as you know, the situation in Pakistan worsening is every day. And the victims of the floods are not receiving enough aid and help. While some of us might be capable of aiding their friends and relatives, others don't have any contacts they can send money or any other type of aid to.

Since Pashtunforums is a community of Pashtuns from across the globe, we should be able to use this community as a means to provide the aid to the affected people.

If we collect some money and donate it to a particular group or entity that is actively engaged in relief efforts, would be of great benefit. But we need to help each other and provide assistance to those who are willing to help, but don't know how and who to approach and contact.

So please, participate in this thread for a collective effort to help each other to find the right channels to send aid to the affected areas.

I am unable to send anyone any money or whatever, because I dont know what is the the most effective channel. So I would be glad if anyone could tell me what is needed and whom' can I contact.

Note to moderators: Please monitor this thread so it does not go off track or gets flooded.

    Jazakallah khairon!

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

In my opinion the most deserving community at this time is the displaced afghans who live in camps in very miserable condition, the rest will be somehow helped by many agencies working in the country.

Can anyone tell us how we can donate money to the most affected regions? Who do we need to contact?

Have you thought about donating to DEC (which includes Islamic Aid, Save the Children and the Red Crescent Society) as well as Oxfam and Cafod etc?

As I mentioned in another thread, Human Appeal International, if you're in UK (or Australia, I doubt it of course), is an NGO based in Manchester (or Sydney and Melbourne) which specialises in relief aid, and has been doing so since 1984. Human Appeal International has twelve offices worldwide serving more than 10 million people in countries including: Sudan, Senegal, Mauritania, Bosnia, Kashmir, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Kosovo, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Eritrea, Somalia and Palestine. They have a few appeal programs running for the flood victims, so you might want to consider them or have a browse of their website and previous programs and projects. I would recommend those two links to anyone willing to send aid to affected areas anywhere around the world.

I won't pretend I know Jasmine. I am certain, though, our American residents on PF can tell you. My apologies.
