  • Huge oil deposit discovered; Gas pipeline to bring in billions in revenue

The Afghan government has officially announced that it has discovered a field with an estimated 1.8 billion barrels of oil in northern Afghanistan, Afghan and Western media is reporting today. The discovery is specifically between the provinces of Balkh and Jowzjan. The survey was conducted by Afghan and international geologists. Also yesterday, Afghanistan’s Tolo news reported that Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Industries have said that an agreement to extend a gas pipeline from Central Asia to South Asia through Afghanistan will soon be signed. According to the report, once the 1680km pipeline has been built and the project formally completed, it will bring in $3 billion in tax revenue annually, as well as create job opportunities for thousands of Afghans. It will be a great boost for the Afghan economy.
Afghanistan is rich in natural resources, and if tapped, managed, and secured properly, it can turn the Afghan economy around and improve the lives of the Afghan people tremendously.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Was this known before? Might it explain the foreign presence?

Even Arabian oil, is ultimately, controlled by the Americans.

        Its a "recent" discovery.

Ok Why is this a news everywhere.

Well damn right because they want to make people fool. Hey Look DO We have have Oil like Iraq and Iran I call it BS that but no.

For god's sake 1.8 billion barrels. USA uses some 30 million barrel per day and that 1.8 billion is their weekly demand. Besides Saudia Arabia produces some 4 billion barrels yearly, which means this 1.8 billion barrels if taken out with low quality Pakistani equipment of 1990s would take 1 year LOL what are you gonna do after one year? Yes indeed if we had 1 trillion barrels lol then we are talking Iraq, Saudia Arabia and Iran like Otherwise forget this BS.
Beside I remember a book which I read that Oil was discovered in Siberghan some 1950s and in 1959 we were already owner of 150 million barrel lol so what? . Ok I guess many of you don't know that this is all part of the greater conspiracy. But Anyways Lets hope they coin some more maybe some 50 billion barrel that would be enough for another 100 years for a usage and sell in a small country like ours. Well speaking of 50 Billion Barrel, our Pashtunistan has some 55 billion Barrel and some 20 trillion Cubic/ft of natural Gas. Well most of Gas 75% is in Balochistan. Therefore Balochistan is known as world leader for its natural Gas.

Next they gonna see "look we found 2 billion worth of Diamond lol" Well yeah we remember the 1 trillion BS which according to A. Mohammad the Afghan mineralogist "We knew we had more than 1 trillion reserve during Russian invasion, besides according to Khalil Nouri 1 trillion is nothing "Furthermore, it will be of little benefit to Afghanistan if its $1 trillion resources would cost $2 trillion or more to dig up"http://www.veteranstoday.com/2010/06/21/afghanistan-is-the-mineral-deposit-saga-a-reality-or-myth/

Yestarday in the mosque I had to spend 1 hour explaining to one teenage Afghan, who argued that we shell buy lots of clean water from Iran and Pakistan because poor Afghanistan doesn't have any water. LOL When I said we have rivers he was shocked. Comon people we have enough to feet whole population of Iran and Pakistan. Afghanistan lots of rivers, and clean water can be extracted VIA better technology, at least we can do is get money from Iran and Turkmenistan and Pakistan for all the free water they get. Everyone sells Water. Water is the next generation of Oil.

Ok I think I am off topic jumbing everwhere.

Anyways Thanks admin from what I see most youngers in here are not aware about what Afghanistan has or it doesn't have.

Saudia Arabia produces 4 billion barrels a year and their economy seems not change that much since 1970s. Arabs still come here in America and complain about how bad it is living in back home.

You are quite wrong my friend. Read the article below.

              Survey finds oil in Afghanistan
              (UKPA) – 1 day ago
A preliminary survey has found that Afghanistan may have 1.8 billion barrels of oil in the north of the country, an official said.

The survey by Afghan and international geologists found the possible oil field between Balkh and Jawzjan provinces, Mines Ministry spokesman Jawad Omar said.

He said the survey would be reviewed and a statement about the possible field is expected by the end of the year or early in 2011. He gave no further details.

Last June, Afghan officials said U.S. geologists believe the country has nearly $1 trillion in mineral resources, although it could take decades and peace with the Taliban and other insurgents before it can be fully exploited.

Oil was first discovered in Afghanistan in 1959 in the country's part of the Amu Darya and Afghan-Tajik basins of the north.

A 2006 report by the U.S. Department of Energy estimated that Afghanistan has about one billion barrels of recoverable oil, although the U.S. Geological Survey the same year put the figure at nearly 2 billion barrels.

By comparison, Saudi Arabia has about 264 billion barrels of crude reserves and currently produces about 8 million barrels per day out of its overall output capacity of around 12 million barrels per day. [so this is just 1% of the total Saudi oil reserve (and obviously Saudi has almost half of the world reserves), which is quite alot and can significantly contribute to the Afghanistan ecnomy. Bear in mind this is just one reserve, there are oil reserves in Paktika region which is not yet been quantified]

It is enough for Afghanistan to self suffecient for ca century and even supply in sustainable quantity within the region. Sorry correction, Saudi sits on half of the middle eastern oil reserves.

My Dear you suprised me not. If Arabs are an American colony, and yet they have their own anti-American sentiments as well as opposition group, despite all a well known regional power like Pakistan, what do you make out of Karzai? sorry I mean Afghanistan where more than 150,000 US Army personals are fighting. At least Americans soldiers are not in Saudia Arabia, but yet due to many properganda spelled by interal and interantional conflict mixed with Shia vs sunni, Wahabi vs modernism, and yet they are an American "colony".

Well lets judge from a non-Afghan point of view. Well lets say from an Arab point of view they see your Afghan government as a Slave government just as we look up on Pakistan as Kufari slaves, what's even worse that Pakistan was once occupied, and today Afghanistan is Occupied. Therefore despite how dirty, and nasty the word Pakistan sounds and how it makes us puke, but to average Arabs our status is next to Pakistan, and from international level Pakistan has a better status. I know this will hurt you and many of my brothers, and perhaps I am the most anti-Pakistani in this forum or any forum, and yet yes I am saying this, but its the reality.
Our Government has lower status then the Pakistani Government. Pakistani Government has at least have the Gutts to say no openly where as our Government lol forget it...I won't even go there, cause really I might break up some youngers hope for better future. Lets pray that we get ride of this Government then we can compare latter.

No doubt this oil will benefit Afghanistan.
But right now no doubt that this oil will benefit only warlords, slaves of ISI/CIA and that ugly Karzai's brother and his Hazara, chabandaz and Dostumis. This is a good news for Bayad Foundation's multiple TV/Redio affiliates, and other Agha Khani organizations and parties such as NCPA with 58 Newspaper and 20 Radios and TV stations, other the Ismaili Book press/Media, and Businessman who own transportation route, and Air Line owners of such as Pamair, Kamair.

OMG I was reading everything above and I was yeah I think i Mention 1959 as well as 1950s because Swiss officals were invited for an investation and I think it turned out Afghans did have oil which was outline either in 1954 or 1955 I can't remember but in 1959 we were offically sittng of top of 150 million barrels. Despite many others were found as time past specially 1961, 1967 and 1972 smaller fields, and Russians also said they found 3 more during their invasion. Anyhow it was already descovered and that was my point the fact that no-one gave the digit 1.8 (trillion) was new but I was not suprised and won't be even if it turned out to be 10 trillion barrels

By comparison, Saudi Arabia has about 264 billion barrels of crude reserves and currently produces about 8 million barrels per day out of its overall output capacity of around 12 million barrels per day. My Dear I didn't gave you info bbl per day but rather per year. Read my post dear I know they produced up to 12 million barrels per day, so what? my point was 264 Billion barrels vs 1.8 billion.
There is a BIG difference, between what they have and what produce and what the Arabs produce in one year lol is twice as our total reserve 1.8 billion.

I am not wrong my dear, you are just repeating me.

So what if they were in the books you have read. Such information should be dissiminated through popular media too. This is important for the government, politically and ecnomically, and can impact our stability. We don't need to be negatively speculative. They are probably doingnthis to harness the interest of investors to say the least. Just chill.
