  • Afghanistan Sends Aid to Flood-Hit Areas Of Pakistan

KABUL -- Afghanistan has sent a relief team to neighboring Pakistan to assist victims of the deadly floods currently devastating that country, RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan reports.

The Afghan aid is made up of 4.5 tons of medicine, a team of 23 doctors, and nine helicopters sent to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province to facilitate recovery efforts in the region.

Majnoon Gullab, Afghanistan's general counsel in Islamabad, told Radio Free Afghanistan that the government of President Hamid Karzai has sent the aid to demonstrate good will toward Pakistan despite strained relationships in recent years.

UN aid workers say the number of affected people during the past two weeks in Pakistan is about 14 million.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Make sure this is the first and last time you are insulting those millions of flood-victims by throwing your so-called favor on your fellow Pukhtoons. Whatever our political relationship may be, me and you ain't any politicians and therefore shouldn't ignore 'humanity' and nor tag humanity with a label called 'favor'.

Only difference I hope this makes is that people stop calling Afghanistan an Persian-friendly state only and understand that if Karzai can stand up for Persians to make his Tajik countrymen happy, then he is also human enough to care about Pukhtoons on other side of the border too.

The Pashtuns in Pakhtunkhwa are our blood brothers and those Pakistanis affected in general by flood are our brothers by faith,we should NOT despise them by making this aid/support look like a favor.
Pakistan has stood by Afghans ever since its establishment and i as an Afghan will owe them countless favors and given privileges till my very last breath.

              @ Noorzai,
I wouldn't say "Pakistan has stood by Afghans ever since its establishment",

Because, that just ruins your nationalism image. You cannot be a Pashtun Nationalist and pro-Pakistan at the same time.

The innocent people of Pakistan obviously have nothing to do with all the messes but we have to keep in mined that Pakistani government system wants to destroy Afghanistan.

Guide me if i'm lost, how can one be a pashtun nationalist (i.e. want to break Pakistan apart to claim your lost land) and view Pakistan as a good friend at the same time? Will Pakistan even consider listening to your Pashtunistan/Loy Afghanistan formation idea?

Durrand line issue is the core of Pashtun nationalism, how can you question the existence of Pakistan and support their existence at the same time?
Unless you think Pakistani system was not created to divide Muslims and their approach towards Afghanistan has always been similar to that of what Jews and Egyptians are doing to the Palestinians.

Pashtun Nationalism is based on anti-Pakistani mindset, da shpa rwaz narey waho chey sar lwaree ramandey swara garzee.

But death to Punjab for stealing Aid again. I am really starting to hate Pakistan.
These stealing thing occure almost in every developing country. You accuse Punjab of stealing aid which need a solid proof to substantiate. Criticism play a vital role in democratic societies and its a healthy sign in right direction, to make public opinion for the right cause. But to your wonder how many people will be there in Punjab who will be more critical about corruption in the country? i think there will be more than KP. Have they all joined hands against KP? My answer will be negative. There is an elite and aristocatic class which always loot and plunder and they exist everywhere. What do you think these people are not existing in Pakhtoons? If they exists in Pakhtoons then why death to Punjab only.
Are Punjab and Sindh people not suffering ? Are they not human being? The best cursing words of yours should be directed to all those who are responsible for any kind of corruption. My cousin who worked in UNHCR is well aware of the honesty of Pakhtoons. Your Karzai and his brother wali (symbol of corruption) hail from Kandahar, are well known corrupts. For their ill, i will not curse whole kandahar. Your statement represents an extreme form of racisim and this is unfortunately very common here.

Anywayz thanks again for the help

By Pakistan i always mean its public/people (who have nothing to do with politics and its foreign policy) not its government and military establishment.

MY PASHTUN BROTHERS ARE SUFFERING. I just finished donating my entire weeks paycheck to them. The last thing I want is Punjabis filling up gas tank with my hard working money. I am not a drug dealer Saeed Khan I work hard for my peysey.
Grana I am more intolerant to injustice n i have stated earlier that its a positive sign in a society to check every move of state machinery. I respect and appreciate your concern and contribution. We will back that minister to derive the right from the centre by every rightfull way.
What i mean , if some individual is responsible for any kind of injustice or corruptions should be made liable for the ill, disregarded his ethnicity. And this is in line with Divine law and also in modern human law. I hope you understand my view point regarding injustice and racism.
