  • Afghanistan suffers $24 million loss on daily basis due to conflict, report says

Afghanistan suffered a financial loss of over $9 billion last year only due to conflict and insurgency amid persistent violence with the rampant insurgency activities by the anti-government armed militant groups.
According to a new research report, the financial loss which amounts to $9 billion and 91 million is almost 13 per cent higher the national budget of the country and is equivalent to almost 44 percent of the net income of Afghanistan.
The report by was released by Equality for Peace and Democracy (EPD) organization on Monday which is based on research conducted during the past year with the help of governmental organizations in seven different provinces and by interviewing by one hundred people.
The report further added that daily loss as a result of conflict and insurgency has been estimated at $24 million.
Deputy Director of Equality for Peace and Democracy, Edrees Omarzad, said Afghanistan could achieve more developments if there were war or violence in the country.
According to the report, the financial losses have been incurred mainly due to financial assistance to war victims and other humanitarian assistance including expenses on public health, disabled individuals, education and immigration.
The report has been prepared with the financial support of the American Peace Institute with the officials of the institute insisting on better governance and enforcement of law in a bid to prevent war and insurgency.
The officials also added that the ongoing violence in the country has regional roots as well as internal roots since war and insurgency have been enforced on Afghanistan.

"To burn always with this hard gemlike flame, to maintain this ecstasy, is success in life."

The number seemed extremely off when reading the headline but now after reading the reasons, it seems ridiculously off.

The Afghan government is spending 24 million dollars a day on public health due to the war? That doesn't sound right at all. If that were somehow true, wouldn't that be an expenditure rather than a loss?
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
