The women from Sheikh Ulmand village of Chaghcharan city donated jewellery and cash worth $25,000, half of the total amount needed for the mosque, Mohammad Shah Majidi, the provincial director of the Hajj and Islamic affairs department said. Majidi said villagers had all contributed to the building of the mosque, the first in the village. If this mosque for worship Allah and serving Islam, then very much appreciable. However, in Swat few years back when women donated their jewlleries to a mosque and madrassa to Mulla Fazlullah, and he promised the people that he is building a mosque for worship, but later we all witnessed that this mosque was used and being for terrorising the locals, killing, lsaughteirng and then the worse things happens to swat as consequences of the event.
I am no way against the mosque and cannot be being a muslim, however, jewllery and mosque relation brings such bad feelings into mind.
However Talal, good you contributed in building a mosque and now people of your village are able to pray at mosque, nice.

Women ghareebaney always contribute to good causes, it's the men that gets the credit for everything.
During 80s, not only Afghan but arab and other muslim women in US,UK would throw their necklaces and bracelets for donation to the Afghan Mujahideen.
During 90s sayyaf went to Saudi to perform a speech (fund raiser ) about the lives of Afghan Mujahideen, at the end of the speech tens of women took off what they were wearing, including Gold watches and other jewelry, and donated it on the spot.
Next time there is a fundraiser amongst the Pashtun community, tell the sisters to come loaded jewelry wise.

People in Pakhtoonkhwa are so much scared of the situation that last year while sitting in a restaurant with one of my school time teacher, two taliban of madrassa came for donation and my teacher looked at them, what do you people expect from us, are we so stupid to strenghten my enemy with my own hands.
This was the reaction after fazlullah did it in Swat. Although we are physically away from swat but same feelings are raising in pashtuns.

Anything coming from an Arab is cursed and very dangerous.

What was given to the Afghan mujahideen was used afterwards to slaughter themselves.

This is not an unusual practice but what concerns me is that instead of giving this gold and such to an construction of a Mosque, why doesnt the people go onto the street and work for free to build homes, give gold to the poor who truely need it instead of building a building that will be used only five times a day and never used as a shelter.
