Without a doubt there are some beautiful places to see, but how reliable is the figure of 10 000? That too, from a small country.

Even if 500 of them visit, will be a big boost to the tourism sector of KPK which is non existing in other provinces except GB/Kashmir.

I hope they are given security

Well yes, but there is a huge difference between 10 000 and 500. And like you say, security is a whole other matter.

Somehow I think your news source has a cock-eyed view of Pakistan's reality.

Security indeed is a issue but a million or more still visit Pakistan,So even 10k is a small number when we Pakistan get upto a Million tourist per year and growing

Right now i am unable to find the source but i do remember higher than a million visited Pakistan in 2011 or 2012

Tourism inflow remained highest from the UK, as more than 270,000 tourists from that country visited Pakistan since Britain maintains the maximum business ties in the region. The next was US from where 108,786 visitors came. More than 48,100 Indians also visited Pakistan besides over 29,100 Chinese and 36,600 Iranians. India and China topped the list when it came to most tourists visiting Pakistan after relaxation in visa restrictions.

LOL Swedes are not crazy, they would never visit KP, an unsafe poor place just to see some lakes and moutains, they can also see this in there own country and switserland is much closer and safer and has better tourist accomodations.
You must be really crazy to go there -_-

Surprise,Pakistan still receive more tourist than countries like bangladesh

Well only if the rest of Paksitan security become as tight as Islamabad,Foriegn tourists will visit the rest of Pakistan in as much numbers as they visit Islamabad.

Pakistan has the potential to beat turkey in foriegn tourists per year
Even as news reports of bomb blasts, street violence, flailing airlines and crumbling tourist spots keep trickling onto front pages, the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTC1) 2013 report released on Thursday revealed that Pakistan had improved by three ranking points, up from 125 in 2011 to 122 in 2013.
Pakistan landed between Cameroon (121) and Bangladesh (123) in the overall world ranking, while neighbouring India ranked 65 on the competitiveness table.
In the regional Asia Pacific rankings, Pakistan came in at 24, in between Tajikistan (23) and Bangladesh (25).

Most 'tourists' to Pakistan I believe are folk with family ties or disaffected teenagers from the Midlands whose next stop is Iraq. That is not spelled 'tourist'. It's 'terrorist'.

Pakistan has been on the brink of being tourism's ‘next big thing’ for more years than we care to remember. It’s a destination that has so much to offer visitors; drive the Karakoram Highway through the endless peaks of the Karakoram Mountains, or wander through the architectural glories of the former Mughal capital Lahore, the ancient bazaars of Quetta or the cosmopolitan streets of Karachi. But every time the country seems to be gearing up to refresh the palates of travellers jaded with last year’s hip destination, world media headlines send things off the rails – again. No matter the attractions, tourism in Pakistan has always been something of a hard sell. A glance at the map shows the country living in a pretty difficult region: always-unruly Afghanistan to one side, Iran to another, and a border with India running through the 60-year-old fault line of Kashmir. But since the events of 9/11, Western pundits have increasingly been wondering if Pakistan isn’t just living in a tough neighbourhood, it is the tough neighbourhood.
