In the extended interview go to 19 min and 20 seconds; the female interviewer does a superb job and her questions are right on the mark. Gopal is also very honest. At 19 min and 25 seconds he calls out the emigre expats who present a false rosy urbancentric picture of "progress" with emphasis on the quote unquote.

The commander, Jan Muhammad, a colleague of Karzai's was caught on videotape in a now famous documentary threatening to sexually abuse a teenage boy when they raided his house and found guns there (as if most Pashtun homes were devoid of weaponry???).

Read his book and his research - he is well traveled and studied in Afghanistan. The whole point of his text is to cover multiple view points. He even provides the story of Karzai henchman Jan Muhammad Khan, the superstar molester through the authorized autobio of the man himself.

Jan Muhammad Khan was caught by a documentarian as an embed in Helmand province. There is a scene where he assists in a raid on a poor guy's house and then the guy's AK is confiscated. The village boy is accused of being a militant and then Jan Muhammad proceeds to say in Pashto that the boy is "beautiful" and that he "looks forward to rubbing his penis on him."

So the "uncool" term is an appropriate epithet.

Basically, it was used in the context of intense sarcasm in that I was indicating that Jan Muhammad, thanks to his enablers, became a "high profile and extremely successful" molester if you want me to write it in verbatim.

I don't need to - I am using the American vernacular appropriately and by the definition of the word. Any dolt can read that and understand my antipathy and animosity to the Jan Muhammad. If you got out of it that I was complementing his molester skills then you read it wrong, or contextualized it wrong.
