I think its Pakistan that can gain by allowing India land access to Afghanistan. It can levy duties on goods carried back and forth and make money out of it. Trade is good. More the trade, more inter-connected the Indo-Pak economies and less the chances of war.

If this really would have helped Pakistan in any way, they would have done it before.

Hard to believe but I dont think Pakistan is falling apart. The times they are facing right now are probably the worst, but there's no reason why they cant come out of it. They just need a common enemy to unify them. India, TTP or US will do.
