PESHAWAR: Around 20 international universities have expressed an interest in opening up campuses at ‘Education City’ in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
The proposed hub will accommodate campuses of national and international universities to provide Pakistani students the opportunity to obtain foreign degrees at home, stated officials of the provincial higher education department.
The K-P government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the British Council to start the project at the earliest, the officials told The Express Tribune on Friday. The site has been selected and land acquired.
Around 30,000 kanals of land in Jehangira will be used to build the education city. The project will be adjacent to the proposed Mega City near the Swabi Interchange on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway.
“We have briefed Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak and other relevant officials on the project, and they termed it a new beginning for the province’s education sector,” shared an education department official.
On Saturday, K-P Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser told journalists at a news conference that the British Council will help the province liaise with 20 international universities to help set up their campuses. Qaisar claimed Saudi Arabia, Japan and South Korea have shown initial interest in the project.
When contacted, Special Assistant to the CM on Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani said the National University of Sciences and Technology, and Bahria University – among other national universities – have agreed to open campuses in Education City.
Students spend millions studying abroad, with Education City they will be able to get the same education at home at an affordable cost, claimed Ghani.
According to CM spokesperson Shiraz Paracha, Education City will not only provide educational opportunities, it will boost the economic condition of K-P by attracting investment, generating jobs and reducing unemployment in the province.

Not to forget this as well..

All that ANP did was impressive as well. This will be like the winds of spring. A friend of mine commented about it: 'The self groomed ego's of the rest of the Pakistan that they are some how more literate and educated than the common Pakhtun is about to collapse soon just like a house of cards. Those who drive taxis in gulf their kids are at the university and I say it loud and clear whether you like it or not in the next 10-15 years things are going to change, we Pakhtuns are going to take charge'

      Awesome!
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Great news but few points to ponder over

          1. Why Jahangira is selected the site for the project? Jahangira is on the border with Punjab and Hindko speaking Hazara. Why you do no establish this project in pure Pashtun areas like Nowkhar, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu etc if not in the far flung Pashtun areas of Swat, Dir, FATA etc?

          2. Does it mean that the investors and politicians do not trust in Pashtuns because of terrorism and extremism so they selected a comparatively non Pashtun area.

          3. Who is sponsoring the scheme? the Kaffir British council or some Muslim organization talking of Khilafat and Umma or some Mullah or some Mujahid or Talib? Near the same Jahangira we have Haqqania in Aakora khattak, the factory of Taliban and terrorists, why so far the Mullah Samiul Haq did not establish a university.

          4. What about the state of affairs of the current universities in KP. Did we produce a single world known scientist or scholar? Why new and new schemes and no effort to improve the existing facilities.

Badlun don't always cry like a child.... Scientists can not be produced in factories... It is the education institutions and system as a whole that polish the abilities of the bright students and the system give them opportunities to do what they can do. What you see in Europe and America is an effort of 200 years continuous efforts of the whole nation as a whole. each institution supported each and today they are at this level. Our countries still have a long way to go. It will take time but I am sure a day will come when every pashtun child will be educated but educated not like you {a gumrah} but a very good Muslim and a very nice pashtun and human being.

Just few remarks and request for your comments

              1. Europe and America achieved all this in 200 years as you say. What are the achievements of Muslims in 1400 years and Pashtuns in 4000 years?

              2. If you cant show any achievement then can you share why we do not have equal achievements with the West in spite of such a long time?

              3. What is an ideal Muslim for you? Don't you think a Talib or a rukn of Jamate Islmai or a Tableeghi in 4 months or one year journey is a very good Muslim? Will such Muslim will give the results what we see in the West?

              4. People in Europe and America are not good Muslims or Pashtuns or not at all Muslims and Pashtuns then how could they achieve such strides in science, economy, technology, politics, philosophy and other fields.

Badlun you are trying to twist the things for your own interests. First I have not compared the West and the Islam. I said the West and our nations like Pakistan of Afghanistan. Where does Islam stops you from education and development ? It is the govt and nations and their systems that have to get advanced in education and development. Religion is not responsible for it.
What you see in the Muslims world now a days is all secular or semi secular corrupt rulers of the time. Don't blame Islam for the corruption of the secularist and semi secularist rulers.
Yes know there is part of muslims in the current scientific development but this huge development in science and technology has occurred only in the last 100 years. And this is not just Muslims who have not got ample achievements but also so many other nations like siks, buddhists, mangols, the whole African continent and so many many others.

For your second point, it is the corrupt and slave rulers of the West due to that we have could not go advance.

The Talib and tablighi or jamati you see is not an ideal but the current situation of the Muslim world is not because of them. They don't have any power to make legislation or make policies or to participate in the decision making of their countries. The class that is responsible is the secularist army and other elite class politicians of each muslim country. Now if you have the beautiful song of democracy then you should get lesson from the recent Egypt example which was toppled down by power. So don't tell me now why people don't chose their rulers. People are selected and not elected.

KPK might still be behind the other provinces like sindh and Punjab

But i am 100% sure under PTI inshAllah,We will cross them in literacy in near future.

The topper of Nust was from Lakki marwat last year. And in 2011 the Federal medical and dental college entrance test was also topped by my friend brother from kundi tribe living in dera ismail khan with 93 score out of 100.

The People of KPK are more talented than the punjabis/sindhis
