  • Kandahar to host big business conference

KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Local and foreign investors are being invited to a big conference to be arranged in southern Kandahar province, the finance minister said on Thursday.
Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal, who attended a zonal conference in Kandahar City along with some other ministers on Wednesday, inspected some ongoing projects on Thursday.
During the trip, the minister visited the Spin Boldak district near the Pakistani border and was briefed on ongoing construction works at the dry port.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said customs offices were being constructed at a cost of $25 million and 80 percent of construction work on the projects had been completed. They would be ready in the near future. He said the structures would have all essential facilities.
On his return to Kandahar City, Zakhilwal inaugurated a new building for the provincial customs department, saying it cost more than half a million US dollars and had all allied administrative facilities.
About the security environment in Kandahar, he said it had improved compared to the past, but was negatively presented by the media to the people inside and outside Afghanistan.
He announced a big conference, aimed at luring investment, would be arranged in Kandahar and would be attended by foreign and local investors.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

And illiteracy which permits foreigners to use some of the elements in the insurgency as tools to subjugate the populace, and serve its strategic interests.

What about sodomitr drug addicts working for the Americans? Do they have phds?

Typical for you Americans. Always blaming the populace instead of pointing out the real causes.

Who blamed the populace? No one is speaking about the American armed forces; the conversation was about insurgency and other variables which are deterimental to development.

The insurgents people who blow themselves up are not illiterate. There could be one or two among them. But its just plain lying to picture all insurgents as stupid and evil.

Which is why I said 'some'. I've learned by now that reading+analyzing isn't your best of skill, but yeah, I said some.

You bring up a speculative matter into this which is illiteracy and manipulation of illiterates to kill civilians for which you have no evidence.

On the other hand various sources confirm that corruption is driving away investors and traders. I can cite a number of sources for that.

Furthermore, the reason why people blow themselves up is due to your country occupying our land. Even your renown Chicaco scholar Robert Pape agrees.

Yet I am the one being childish?

                        As I said, typical American.

I have a ton of evidence proving that Afghans are illiterate, unfortunately due to the three decades of war, and you are delusional to assume no elements of foreign spy agencies are using SOME of the insurgents in Afghanistan for their strategic interest. Like I said, there is a logical reason for you hiding in Dutchland, or being educated in Leiden University vs Kandahar University, instability. Not that there is anything wrong with you being around the Dutch, or being educated in Lieden. Just pointing out the obvious.

Dear Dutchman, no need to get emotional. Occupation of all forms will always drive instability. I never argued against that young grasshopper.

Your analytical skills are weak, like I previously pointed with your blatant assumption(from which you deviated the topic). You have great potential, I suggest you to read more often, that way politics doesn't become another failed hobby of yours.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I cannot speak about Mazar since I have little knowledge of that city. Regarding Kabul i can tell you the following:

There are a number of prominent investors and businessmen I know from the communist era up until now who have always managed to negotiate their way into Afghanistan and make a profit.

There are two groups among them. One is a primarily Kochi group of investors who are able to maintain ties with local strongmen in Nangarhar and Kabul like Haji Zahir and Haji Din Muhammad and Karzai.

Due to their good relationship with them they have managed to secure their position in import export real estate and transport business.

There is another group of primarily Tajik investors who are linked to Fahims maffia in Kabul. They have a history of ties with KHAD back in the 80s til the fall of communist and the take over by Shoraye Nezar. This group is currently the most powerful conglomerate of businessmen and investors.

When you see thriving business and prosperity in places like Kabul and Nangarhar you are basicallu seeing mainly two groups linked to strongmen.

Others who do not have such links are basically loosing their money. In fact the two groups fight turf wars frequently via parliament, minstries and even armed forces.

When we take these two groups out and see what is left of business in Kabul and Nangarhar all you will see is shoe shining, fruit salesmen, market stalls etc.

Thats just the way it is. I wanted to move back to Kabul and do something, but Fahims gang wont even allow me to build on my own land. I happen to be one in millions in Kabul being victimized by the current government.

Even when we tried to fight the local warlords via judiciary system, the judge told our chief to give him 50.000 dollars otherwise he wont even open our folder.

Due to these circumstances many are forced to stay away from Afghanistan. I know many young people who are willing to go back and settle there and start a business. But corruption and warlords are making things impossible for us.
