I don't have the original report but some of you may have come across that news clip from nangrahar where a daughter of a man with 9 daughters was transformed to a male by doctors.
To celebrate the medical advancement or shake our heads in disappointment??

its in kunar. i guess she is gonna through sex-change operation. the good part is we have developed enough to compete with the rest of the world in medical field. its a complex operation. not a simple one.

the sad part is that the father is putting his daughter through these physical and spychological miseries to pulfil his dream of having a son. is our society ready accept her in new him?

Most fathers dream of having a son for the reason of having a heir to carry on his y chromosome. I have doubts that the father is actually aware that his son/daughter wont be able to produce. I think the doctors are using his naiveness to get their "ginny pig."

An adult choosing this option because he or she is a homosexual is whole lot of a different subject than a father choosing this for his child. What about the rest of his daughters?? Daughters gona live the house, he will become old, Afghans don't have retirment houses, and in his case he lives in a village so I doubt that he have pension, so who will care for the old man???
