India to host summit on Afghanistan investment
To promote Afghanistan as a new investment destination, India's premier industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), along with both India and Afghanistan governments, is organising the “Delhi Investment Summit on Afghanistan” on June 28.
"The objective of this summit is to attract foreign investment into Afghanistan in the light of new opportunities opening up in various sectors in that country," said a spokesperson of India’s External Affairs Ministry.
"The summit will include presentations by the government of Afghanistan and others on the investment climate and opportunities in Afghanistan and panel discussions on cross-cutting issues as well as sector specific themes. Potential regional and international investors, including companies from India, will participate in the event," the official said.
The summit is being organised in line with India’s long term commitment to the country as they build a peaceful, pluralistic, democratic and prosperous Afghanistan, the ministry said.
According to CII, the objective is to attract foreign investments into Afghanistan in areas like mining, hydrocarbons and infrastructure, and in the badly needed investments in traditional sectors like agriculture, industry, capacity-building, health and services -- after three decades of conflict.
The summit will be held at Hotel Taj Palace in India’s capital.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Are you against India investing in Afghanistan? If yes, why? Because the Holy Islamic state of Pakistan's interests will get threatened? An investment, whether it be from Malaysia or Australia, should always be embraced, provided that mutual benefits exist.

apart from having an attitude aginst india, i assume that shadow has the issue that the government of afghanistan is not valid. i can understand that and the thought of karzai and his cronies stealing more from their country, i also find, to be a sickening thought.
there has to be restraints on these companies, which the americans did not put in place when they had control of iraq. in fact they gave their mutinational company mates, rip off deals, at the expense of iraq.

Mutual benefit is a good term used normally but actually it does not exist anywhere mostly when it comes to dealing of the weaker countries with the strong one. India will use the Afghan land and people against their neighbours, India will install and increase their agents in every institution of Afghanistan from media, govt to army. India will try their level best to contaminate the beautiful culture of Pashtuns through their media and other experties.
They will do much bigger things that we have not even heard of. Afghanistan should better look for other friends not necessarily Pakistan but India ? should never ever.

If India steals Afghan resources, or anyone for that matter, obviously they are wrong. But I was speaking in general terms, that if India or Australia, as I said, wish to invest and both sides have mutual interests, it should be encouraged. For some members, such as ShadowGovenor, this is rocket science and will result in Buddha statutes on the corner as he said to my IF statement.

If India wishes to invest, and Afghanistan is gaining benefits from it as well, there is no problem. It's up to a proper government to decide when it's in the interest of Afghanistan. Unfortunately, we lack a strong government.

Since there is very little education or training, most end up doing "mazduri" in Karachi, India or Arabistan.

i don't know why talib supporters are up in arms about this summit when the taliban had no problem traveling to america to mull over pipeline proposals.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
