The UAE's private investment in Afghanistan currently stands at about Dh1.3 billion and is set to increase further with more companies, such as Dnata, planning to enter the new market, the outgoing Afghan Ambassador to the UAE told Emirates Business yesterday.
Abdul Farid Zikria, Afghanistan's Ambassador to the UAE who is due to end his service shortly, said Dnata is already finalising a deal to takeover Kabul International Airport as its operator. A Dnata delegation was travelling to Kabul to survey the newly-built airport and finalise the deal for the operational takeover.
"The Dnata delegation, headed by its vice president, is travelling to Kabul today to hold talks with the government for the takeover deal. They will examine the new terminal buildings, its facilities and services, to see if they conform to their standards. The Government of Afghanistan is very keen to give the operational rights to Dnata because of their high-quality services and excellent record of running international airports," the ambassador said.
