  • DSL rolled out in Mazar-e-Sharif,Kabul and new police building is opened in Kabul

Afghanistan’s Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, Amirzai Sangin, and Balkh Governor, Atta Muhammad Noor inaugurated the Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) in Mazar-i-Sharif earlier this week. Mazar-i-Sharif is one of 6 cities in which the ministry is implementing DSL. With DSL, Afghans will have access to high speed internet access. They will have faster access to the web as well as digital telephone lines. In Mazar-i-Sharif, thousands of people will benefit from the technology. With more people using telecommunications, the ministry is able to collect more revenues and thus further improve the Afghan economy. Amirzai Sangin also stated that his ministry is planning to introduce 3G mobile phone services. Also this week, a newly-constructed building for the faculty of border police was inaugurated at the Kabul Police Academy. The cost of the building was 6 million euros; financial support for the construction came from Germany and Canada. The building consists of administrative rooms, classrooms, a masjid, a gymnasium and a hotel. The building will be able to provide housing for up to 2,600 cadets.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) on Sunday announced the activation of new technology and internet service through the (Digital Subscriber Line) DSL project through Afghan-Telecom Company in Kabul. This internet facility is now available in Kabul city in low price, high-speed, quality, sound and video.
Addressing a press conference, acting Minister of MCIT, Ameerzai Sangeen, said that the Afghan Telecom Company signed a contract worth $4 million with Insta Telecom Company in December to implement and invest on the DSL project to provide high-speed, quality internet facility in six provinces including Kabul, Kandahar, Herat, Kunduz, Mazar-e-Sharif and Jalalabad. He added that the customers of Afghan Telecom need to install a modem in their computers and use internet in hospitals, educational institutes, companies, houses and nongovernmental organizations with 80% discount in comparison to other internet providers. Around 700 million people are using DSL facility worldwide.

“Kandahar, Herat, Kunduz, Mazar-e-Sharif and Jalalabad have Afghan Telecom services and the DSL services will be available in these provinces within the next three months,” Sangeen added.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

We have over millions of hungry kids/families, unemployed youths, illiterate women and disabled people. Do they really need this DSL?

^ If they are illiterate, they are not poor. They have atleast two times of food and don't feel a threat when they get out of their homes unlike poor Afghans.

        Where to begin?

        - Education, is the solution for all the problems. Once we provide the opportunity for them to get education then everything else will be upcoming steps instead of investing in useless stuff. To do so first of all the government should invest in abolishing child labor, provide employment for those who deserve alot yet are sitting jobless just because they do not have any recommendation. Give today's youth an opportunity to voice their opinions in public and take part in the construction of the country.

        - Any country who is in process of a reconstruction takes the baby steps in construction they all of a sudden do not jump in investing on DSL and other high-techs.

        - Currently the level of education is so low in Afghanistan that you can't even imagine. The institutions who provide alittle better education take chunks of money for the fees for which an average Afghan family is not able to pay.

Like this there are many other things that can be listed. The whole point is that when you are trying to make a house you don't think what kind of curtains or carpets should this house, the only thing you think about is how should the house be made and what type of materials should be used.

As for the proposation of a plan?

        - Complete your education and leave for Afghanistan. If it isn't hard because U.S or anyother superpower isn't interested in building your home for you unless they have their personal agendas hidden behind.
