    Navy to buy seven submarines

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy is in discussions with China and France to acquire seven latest conventional submarines, negotiations with Germany to purchase three U-214 is also on cards.
Chinese version offers economical price of around $230 million for each boat.

To negotiate with French DCN Company for Marline Submarines, a high level naval delegation will visit France on April 27.

Reliable sources from Pakistan Navy told DawnNews that after three years of continuous negotiations with Germany PN has decided to avail some other options as well for acquiring next-generation submarines.

Sources maintained that Islamabad is deeply interested in acquiring four Chinese Yuan and Song Class and three French Marlin class latest diesel electric conventional versions in a bid to meet any challenge from the rapidly expanding Indian navy.

Initially German company HDW had drawn up technical specifications for three U-214 boats and a billion dollars contract also intact and was almost final.—DawnNews

                @Jodigul

These two were the old agosta projects

PNS/M Hashmat (S135) - completed in 1979, originally named Astrant
PNS/M Hurmat (S136) - completed in 1980, originally named Adventurous

Following subs were made by Pakistan itself with ToT from France. Note that agosta's are only used by French, Spanish and Pakistani navy

PNS/M Khalid (S137) - built in France by DCN Cherbourg, completed in 1999
PNS/M Saad (S138) - built in Pakistan with French assistance, completed in 2002
                PNS/M Hamza (S139) - built in Pakistan, commissioned 14 August 2006

The Agosta 90B, also known as the Khalid-class, is a modernised design built for the Pakistan Navy. Various modifications give lower acoustic signature, lower diving depth, improved battery range and performance. Greater automation also allows the crew to be reduced from 54 to 36. The submarine can be armed with up to 16 torpedoes and SM39 Exocet anti-ship anti-ship missiles

                @ Master Khan

We have the Indian threat, with their massive economy and military we have to to do whatever needs to be done to safeguard our interests, but your wrong Army's budget as it stands is a mere 4.5% of its total GDP

With the new submarines, the Pakistan Navy will formally join the 1970s.

You should get a new calendar if it still says 1970 on there

PN is being modernized according to the AFFDP-2019 program. This includes induction of several frigates, submarines, corvettes, missile boats, AWAC's ( Orion fitted )... Pakistan seeks to modernize its fleet while at the same time acquiring complete transfer of technology for these various platforms. Pakistan gained significant in producing submarines from the french through the agosta program and our chineese friends were more than willing to help us build our F-22P frigates

The above mentioned submarines are among the most modern in the world, especially the U boat which is considered as one of the "quietest" submarines in the world.

The video below is from PN's recent weapons tests in the arabian sea, weapons tested included anti-surface, air-to-surface and subsurface-to-surface missiles, according to the statement

watch the video it should school you

You're an idealist. Which means that when it comes to reality, you lose.

Pakistan's navy is India-specific. Even then, it is outnumbered by the Indian Navy by a ratio of 4:1.

So Pakistan has 3 new ships incoming? India has 39...

Oh and I found this part especially amusing:

weapons tested included anti-surface, air-to-surface and subsurface-to-surface missiles

                      LOL!

Like I said, welcome to the 1970s! In fact, these types of weapons have been around since the 50s...

why is there an influx of trolls on this forum ? cars have been around for half a century ? ships have been around for ages ?? whats your point ?

Our strategy is india-specific well duh why wouldnt it be ?

India is four times the size of Pakistan and has to protect a coastline far greater than ours ?? we're not in stick match with India, our defense is our main and only priority and this thread was for that..I have no clue what you mean by your snide remarks
