  • Afghanistan to become self-sufficient in fuel by 2015

Mines Minister Wahidullah Shahrani on Sunday said Afghanistan would not only become self-sufficient in fuel production, but would also export it to other countries by 2015. Currently Afghanistan imports three billion tonnes of fuel.
Briefing reporters about a recently signed agreement with a Chinese firm on oil and gas extraction at the Amu Rive field in northern Sar-i-Pul province, the minister said it was a key step toward Afghanistan's self-sufficiency in oil and gas. The agreement with the Chinese company, CNCP, was signed on December 28.
The Amu River field is estimated to have more than 87 million barrels of fuel reserves.
Shahrani said international investors would be briefed on other fuel zones in the north in summer this year, when bids for the Tirpal fuel zone in western Herat province would be opened.
"Practical work on these two zones will also be launched in next three years," he said, adding in the future, other already identified fuel reservoirs in Herat, Paktika and Helmand would be set for bidding.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

most of these geo surveys were done in the soviets decades ago with probably inferior technology. hopefully the reserves of our oil and natural gas have been greatly underestimated.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

yeah as if the 42+ masters of karzai will let Afghans just have it.
as long as Afghanistan is under influence of foreign invaders these resources are not Afghan.

but good news is they will never succeed in their plans of selling out Afghanistan.

Even if the 39 NATO allies leave Afghanistan, do you think any of the Uzbeks, Tajiks or Qashqais and the ''Tajik Arabs'' and their warlords and power-broker will let entire Afghanistan having share on it? Who control currently 90% of the economy in the north? The governeur of Balkh. Who control the banks there and play the role of shadow governeurs? Alam Mir. Who have the largest ''Afghan Local Police'' troops there? Dostum and his commanders. With a hated president and a corrupt government those former NAs won´t give a liter to Karzai Gov. They accept Chinese, Arabs, even Pakis but nor Karzai. The problem should focused here.

Please, look into a mirror. Pakistani leaders betray their own people and country. You have no shame, no dignity and not a free will (begging for Dollars, supporting terrorists, forcing your own daughters to become suicide bombers, killing the own people because of ''national interests'' which infact is the interests of and only of the Panjabi establishment and the ISI and all other elitists who fear losing power and statue)! No matter who or what Afghans are, at least they are 1000 times better than you and your leaders! The diehard sellouts and traitors among men are Pakistani leaders and those who support them. If I am wrong, prove me wrong!

Come on guy, there is a big difference between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Afghanistan has no system for running the govt and thus have no infrastructure for running that system and so no expenditure producing and maintaining that infrastructure. Afghanistan have no railway, no airline, no roads, no education system, no health system, no governance, no proper trade system except those smuggling which happens to the neighbouring countries, have no millitary and defence and the occuring cost for that.
For running and maintaining this all system there occurs a cost, for that you must have some big budgetary amount to meet those expenditure which you don't have.
Today your whole Afghanistan is run by american money.
The day you got this whole system and its expenditure I bet you will have more corrupts and sold out guys than in Pakistan.
Even now there is abundance of corrupts in Afghanistan.

^Hiding quran in a mosque are you serious. Its like to say we gona build a nuclear power plant but we gona hide the nuclear engine somewhere -_-.

And 2015 is so close, I don't think its realistic that in just 3 years Afghanistan would be selfsuficient in fuel.

Our ministers also bark like this... Presence of huge oil reserves in afghanistan is good news, the bad news is that according to transparacy international afghanistan is world's second most corrupt country.
