Stadium inaugurated in Khost
KHOST CITY (PAN): A stadium inaugurated costing more than one million
dollars has been inaugurated in the southeastern province of Khost
province, officials said.
Govern Abdul Jabbar Naeemi on Friday congratulated residents of the
province on having a stadium in Khost, where facility would help promote
peace.
"We are inaugurating this place of recreation and peace. Khost youth have
long been waiting for the opening ceremony," he said.
The stadium was constructed in three years with financial support from the
Afghanistan Olympic Committee, Director Aziz Malang said.
Having race tracks, volleyball and basketball courts, as well as a cricket
ground, the stadium has been constructed on 7.5 acres of land, he said,
adding it had capacity for 18,000 spectators.

Stadium Opened in Khost
A stadium built in a 22 acre-land, was officially inaugurated in the southern
Khost province while some provincial high-ranking officials, MPs and a large
number of citizens and sports fans were present.
Head of Khost Olympics Committee, Aziz Mangal Zazai told Wakht News
Agency that the stadium construction was expensed $ 1.2 million which
was built in in ternational standards and has the capacity of 20,000
audiences.
He added that the stadium is available for both domestic and foreign
soccer matches.
He called the construction of the stadium as an important step towards
the sports development in Khost province.
He claims that the narcotics addicts will be encouraged to resort sports,
asking the athletes to encourage them.
Meanwhile, Indian government is due to build an international cricket
ground in Khost city. The expense of the ground has been estimated $ 2.5
million and the practical work will start next year.
