  • Afghanistan Government Incompetence 2: More Bad Development News

    http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110...11_afghanistan

"The foreigners are here for their own benefit. They came here by force and they will leave here by force," said Sayed Mujtaba Mahmoddi, a Kabul university student who says the September 11 attacks have overall been bad for his country.

"Afghanistan has developed a lot during the past years, but the development does not match the money spent. So I think the international mafia, together with the Afghan government, spent all this money improperly."

Creating Pakistan next door to Pakistan:
"The enormous ambition to get quick results has led us to pour in more external resources than society can absorb," said one senior Western diplomat working in Kabul.

So instead of funding growth, much of it has been diverted -- into the pockets of both the elite and insurgents -- helping to fuel a culture of rampant corruption. Everything from justice to electricity supply is tangled up in demands for bribes

"Graft costs Afghans $2.5 billion a year, according to U.N. estimates; Transparency International rated it the world's third most corrupt country, behind only Myanmar and Somalia."

Graana Barakzai saab, what should Afghans do now?
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

SOVEREIGNTY, no matter how long it takes and no matter the costs. That boy in the first quote understands this. Folks may answer, you are far away from the field... but it appears that the Afghans on the ground are also deeply in tune with this concept.

The lack of being sovereign, despite how ever many gifts are showered on any people in the form of money, bridges, computers, hospitals, MRI machines, is eventual decay, decline, and loss of the very values that define that culture's beauty and independence.

You and I see that right here before our eyes with the descendents of the slaves and the native Americans. No free medical school seats or reservation lands will ever make up for the decimation and decline of the natural values of a people.

Japan and Germany are in no way comparable examples to Afghanistan and even they have lost something of their culture, freedom. and sovereignty.

Moreover, there are no natural resources the Americans gain from these people and no civilizational or religious clash between these cultures.

Hitler and the Emperor also left behind a decent infrastructure.

Afghanistan is being turned into a central asian "republic" with strong men and hegemony.

So my drun Pashtun friend... sovereignty and control of destiny... without the fool's gold belief that someone can establishour sovereignty for us... or the utterly ignorant belief that we can hoodwink the Americans into building up Afghanistan and then politely ask them to leave.
