    Australia to boost Human
    Resources Department in
    MoPH

KABUL: Australian government will assist 1.5m Australian Dollars to enhance
capacity of Human Resources Department of Ministry of Public Health
    (MoPH).

MoPH signed 3 agreements with representatives of Development Assistance
Facility for Afghanistan (DAFA) here on Saturday, at the aim to support IT
strengthening, Hospital Management and developing of Human Resources
    for Management Information System (HRMIS).

The Australian donation is important step toward improvement of health
services in the country, said Acting Minister of MoPH, Dr. Suraya Dalil at
    the signing ceremony.

The donation will be spent through health ministry’s budget and it would be
    implemented within one year.

A database will be established to collect information of MoPH employees
    and put it into database.

Dalil reiterated that improvement of human resources is one of key priority
of her ministry, but lack of budget was a big challenge ahead of us. So we
struggled to gain our plans with cooperation of health partners.

“We commitment to support MoPH financially and technically”, said John
    Templeton, representative of DADA.

He added that DAFA aims to work closely with MoPH to boost health
services in Afghanistan. As well as to strengthen the capacity of Afghan
institutions to govern effectively and provide basic services and economic
    development.

In 2008 DADA is supporting 4 ministers such as MoPH, Education,
Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock and Rural Rehabilitation Development to
provide bilateral support to the reconstruction of Afghanistan. Australia has
contributed substantially to multilateral aid efforts and has been a strong
supporter of the international accords which have helped Afghanistan to
    start rehabilitation.
