i was just reading on a muslim website, jafria news, an article about opium being now grown in england. the u.s. and the un want to eradicate afghanistans opium crops, whilst there is a shortage of painkillers worldwide, and whilst western countries are benefitting from this crop. this bugs me, no end. it is so unfair to the afghan people and would be so beneficial, financially to the farmers.
richard holbrooke,(x us ambassader to afghanistan) and a british mp, frank field, are 2 proponents of afghanistan being able to benefit from opium production, rather than elimination.
