Taliban have shot down an ISAF helicopter at Mannogai district of Eastern Province of Kunar Sunday evening.

A spokesman for the Taliban Zabihullah Mojahid told Wakht News Agency Monday that his associates shot down a Chinook Military Helicopter owned by the ISAF forces when it was landing at Mannogai district of the province.

He claimed that 34 coalition forces died and a number others were wounded in the attack. He added that the attack sparked a clash between Taliban and coalition forces in which two of his men were also killed.

ISAF officials and top district official Mannogai Ali Muhammad confirmed that the helicopter was shot down by the insurgents but said that no security official was killed or wounded in the incident.

They however, said that two Taliban insurgents who attacked the copter were killed during shootout which followed.

A Nato helicopter has crashed in eastern Afghanistan, but there have been no casualties, officials say.
A Taliban spokesman said they had shot down the helicopter in a mountainous region in Kunar province.
The US-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) said it was investigating the cause of the crash.
It said in a statement that the troops came under fire from militants but the crew and passengers of the helicopter were safe.
A government spokesman for the Kunar province Safiullah Wasifullah Wasify told the Associated Press news agency that the helicopter went down early on Monday in the Chapa Dara district.
He said he had received reports that it was shot down by a rocket.
The Taliban have in the past shot down helicopters of foreign forces in Afghanistan.
