    600m for Kandahar Water, Energy

The Afghan Ministry of Energy has allocated $600m for water and energy projects in the southern Kandahar province, officials said on Tuesday.

The funding has been provided by the United States and will be spent through the government budget.
It will cover reconstruction of Dali dam and electricity network in Kandahar province.

The work on Kajaki dam is already in progress.
Renovation of the electricity system including establishment of new power sub-stations and extension of power cables from Kabul to Kandahar will be the main focus, officials said.

"Reconstruction of Kajaki dam is the main priority, but 220 million dollars will be spent on the electricity projects," Afghan Minister of Water and Energy, Mohammad Ismael, told reporters.

However, he said insecurity was the main challenge for the project.
Meanwhile, he said Kabul electricity will also be extended to some other provinces including Ghazni, Zabul and Paktia.

Let's hope nothing prevents this development. Afghans need electricity and access to clean water.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Yes, admin. As far as I know from people with first hand knowledge, they have tried to fix Kajaki and the other dam in Helmad for over the past five years but is constantly being hurdled with due to Taliban non-stop attacks.

And you know that our neighbours have it clear that water needs to keep flowing regardless.. and will disrupt any attempt to the otherwise.

Very nice. I think in Pashtun areas substantial work needs to be done in the areas of communication (roads, telephone, etc.), education (starting with primary and secondary level), health, and media(tv, radio, etc.) extension, etc. Agriculture and farming is another area that needs focus. For this, a special five-year plan is needed that should be followed by exploration of minerals and development of natrural resources.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

yep...predicting the future is totally my thing.
i remember when the talibans would cruise from alley to alley just to blow off power lines and transmitters.
meanwhile, unknownprince was being taught islamic studies in the comfort of his living room at the cost of 40 bucks an hour. too bad his highness couldn't benefit from it even then due to extreme level of paranoia he did/does and will always suffer from.

Electricity & Security are the 2 most important inputs needed for a developed Afghanistan. Without them, no one will bother investing in Afghanistan. Tens of factories moved out of Kandahar because of power shortages in the past.
